Hello,

This posting is to inquire about the setup of the supported sites feature of the video downloadhelper utility. A member of my family recently opened a browser window and accidentally clicked on the supported sites tab. Listed within the support sites window, were numerous porn sites. This has lead that member of my family to assume that I visit all these sites and is creating hardship within my household. Can anyone please provide me with supporting documentation that defines how this feature determines the list of sites to show on that list? I've attached a screenshot that displays what I'm encountering. When I open a new window, select the supported sites button, it displays the list of supported sites - all of which are porn sites. I appreciate any help.  Thank you.

Sorry for causing the embarrassment. The next version, 5.5.0 (but you can now install the 5.5.0a19 from  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/versions/5.5.0a19) ensures the adult sites cannot be listed until you explicitly choose to see them from a drop down list, and we'll soon add a confirmation screen to ensure no one gets there by accident.

If you really want to remove permanently any access to adult material in VDH and our http://www.downloadhelper.net/ site, you can also activate the safe mode (note there is no way back): http://www.downloadhelper.net/safe-mode.php

Thanks for your response.  I was wondering if you could please add additional information on how the "Support Sites" button works in that version.  What determines the ranking of those sites to be listed?  I'm trying to get a clear understanding of why clicking on that tab shows a bundle of adult related sites.  So far it is making me look like that is a history of sites that I've gone to.  Again, I appeciate any details that you can provide.

Yes I had the same problem and mig gave me a reasonable answer in this post....https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/supported$20sites/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/k5ZqABs4ua4/9DKlvqKpDAAJ

If you type "supported sites" in the google window that appears in this VDH questions area, you can see many threads on this very subject.  Looks like mig, will address a toggle in 5.5.0 that might at least not make it obvious.  Yes, you did not go to any (or maybe did) porn sites....its just a collection of sites most visited (see his answer in the above link)
