I had to reset my browsers recently due to web hijacking.  When i tried to use Video DownloadHelper again, I was prompted to purchase a license.  Using this forum (thanks y'all) I was able to recover my license key.  That's where I ran into a hurdle--

When I try to use the license key I was just emailed to set a license in either Chrome or Firefox, VDH tells me "No license has been registered."  What am I doing wrong?  🤔

I'm pretty sure that I paid the license registration fee for both Chrome an Firefox at some point in time.  In any case, I'm positive that I paid for it at least to use within Chrome.

One other thing. You keep saying license. Singular. A VDH license will work with
Firefox but not Chrome. Or with Chrome but not Firefox. If you have only 1 license key,
it is good in only one of the two browsers, not both. I think perhaps there is a
shortcoming in the mechanism that E-mails you your license key. I think it sends you
only your Firefox license key. I think. Notice the weasel words. I'm not sure. The
image I show above is for Firefox & I have used that recently to re-enter my license key,
so I know it works. If it doesn't work for you, you should post a screenshot similar to
what I just did showing what happens to you. Of course, be sure you obscure your license
key, like I did. Although we know the key will work with only one of the browsers, I'm
guessing Firefox, it might be worth it to post the screenshot for Chrome as well. It
might be helpful. Maybe not. Can't hurt to post it, though. And since it is important,
be sure you obscure your license key. Keep it secret. Posting it in public is a
sure-fire way to get the VDH folks to cancel it & send you a new one. Hmm...... Maybe
that's what you should do. Kidding . . .

As for your other (presumably Chrome) license key, you'll have to wait for Jérôme to come
in here to help you. He works for VDH, unlike me. He usually shows up here in the
morning his time, which is France time, because that's where he lives. That will be in
about 4-5 hours from now.

Thanks for all of that.  You're correct that the email I received from VDH refers only to a Firefox license.  As it would turn out, however, said "Firefox" license worked in my Chrome browser but did not work in Firefox.  (It's unclear to me whether this is because I tried using the license key in Chrome first.)  I tested it out, and it's working fine in Chrome.

So now, the license is still not working for me in Firefox.  Given your last message, I take it this is to be expected, as the license is only good for one browser.  But I am confident that I've also taken out a separate license for Firefox... now how would I go about checking on that?  When I first ran my email through the VDH database, it returns only the one "Firefox" license key.... which, quite curiously, only worked in Chrome lmao.

I've attached screenshots of the (redacted) email I got this morning with my license key, as well as the (redacted) pages showing the key worked in Chrome but not in Firefox.

Oops. Looks like I forgot to expand the drop-down display showing the platform in those screenshots.  I've fixed that here so you can see... Check out the Chrome one in particular.  My poor web browser appears to be having a crisis of identity?

hi,
you have a Chrome premium, it won't work with Firefox. According to your screenshots it's OK for Chrome, isn't it ?

Well, that is most curious. The E-mail sent in response to the license recovery request
clearly mentions Firefox. The E-mail from VDH containing the license says it's a Firefox
license. Look at the image our original poster attached above. The E-mail says Firefox.
I don't blame this customer for being confused. Now, if this user also had a Firefox
license, I'm assuming that E-mail from VDH would also say it's a Firefox license. I
generated one of those for myself for the purpose of putting the screenshot of it in one
of my tutorials. Strangely, it does NOT says Firefox. It refers merely to "the
browser." That E-mail also mentions "converter" more than once. There has not been a
"converter" for several years. Go look in the Table of Contents thread. The screenshot
of the E-mail is there. So what happens to people who have both a Chrome VDH license & a
Firefox VDH license? Do they get E-mails saying, "Here's your Firefox license" for the
one containing the Chrome license, plus one that is vague & contains the Firefox license?
More confusion. This sort of thing is in the same category as fixing the erroneous & out
of date content on the VDH web site. Fixing these things is not adding features &
correcting bugs in the software. But fixing these things is just as important. I don't
see any acknowledgement from you & Michel that these things are just as important. I get
the idea that you guys don't believe this sort of stuff is important, that's it's just
cosmetic window dressing as far as you're concerned. Wrong! It is more important than
you realize. It needs to be fixed. It's overdue by years to be fixed. Please please
please fix the web site & these generated E-mails.
