Continue downloads after all browser windows are closed

How do I get the VDH Companion app to continue downloading its ongoing downloads after I close all browser windows?

You can't. That's just how it works. If you close all your browser windows while any
VDH download is in progress, it gets abruptly cancelled & the partial download(s) you
have at that point is (are) unlikely to be playable. If you relaunch the browser, VDH
does not pick up from where it left off. You have to start over by visiting the relevant
web page again & telling VDH to download the same thing again, which starts the download
from the beginning. We have to live with that. I had a discussion in this forum with
Michel a while ago about resuming an interrupted download from the point of failure. He
explained how it's not possible. Sad but true. So you just have to discipline yourself
to remember that VDH is downloading something & remember to keep at least one browser
window open. It doesn't have to be the web page from which you are doing a download.
Any open browser window will do. But you have to keep that one open or you just lose the
inflight downloads.
