Friends,

The sad result captured above is less than ten minutes old at this writing.  The machine itself was freshly rebooted last night.

Have retried installing from a second download (but identical GitHub link noted) to no avail.  One MIGHT tend to believe that there MIGHT be SOMETHING wrong with the .deb itself, since the GDebi installer is solid like granite rock.

Coding skills exist but time constraints preclude anymore New Projects for a while.  Regrettable to be bothering the group but better early than late with the word, at any rate.  And that is all.  0{;-\o[

I cannot tell for sure why gdebi says the file does not exist, but can you try to download the .deb file from https://github.com/mi-g/vdhcoapp/releases/download/v1.2.4/net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.2.4-1_amd64.deb then open a terminal and execute sudo dpkg -i net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.2.4-1_amd64.deb ?

Sure can & sure will, right after workday and grocery-buying 7/11/18.  Won't take long.  Expect results online by midnight tonight. The Linux Root Console is all-powerful.  (The user-space version, very nearly so.)  So that approach just MIGHT work! ;)  We shall see.

Caveat:  If manual install via console/command line is the answer, one must wonder what distinguishes THIS .deb from all OTHER .deb packages previously installed by my own hand via apt-get --install, Synaptic and GDebi over the prior years...  GDebi is a mere GUI on top of the command-line base app named "apt" iirc.

Thanks for your quick response, Mig!  We'll suss this thang out, fer sher.  Very happy to meet you!  And that is all.  0{;-)o[

I know some users installed the coapp using gdebi, so this is supposed to work.

In the mean time, your screenshot shows an error saying the package file is missing, so the issue might not be due to the .deb itself.

Did so and then (since I consciously do NOT use sudo on my system - it's an avoidable security risk imvho) installed the package this way...

and got this when I looked at the VDH "ABOUT" panel:

Success!  Thanks, my friend.  Looks like we're in business now.  Will look deeper into the GDebi glitch when can, and report results when found. For once, Yours Truly is happily "boggled".

All in good time...  Again, thanks for your astute tip!  And that is all.  0{;-)o[
