Since the only option for BBC Iplayer in Firefox 59.0.1. is now HTML5 the only options offered for download are small MP4 files of approx 687 Bytes. In the past you could select Flash player (from this page http://www.bbc.co.uk/html5) but this option is no longer available. Will there be a fix coming for this issue in future versions of VDH?

you don't need to use the command prompt, on the start menu is "web pvr scheduler", that opens a web page, just page the iplayer tv show url on there and click download.

Setting a user agent override is debatably not simple, but for Mozilla Firefox (and similar browsers) an extension such as Custom UserAgent String can simplify this.
