I got a message today from Windows, stating that Microsoft would no longer provide quality updates for my current build of Windows 10.  In order to keep getting updates/support, I would need to do a feature update.

I went ahead with the update, which updated me to Windows 10, version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.867).

Ever since the update, Video DownloadHelper no longer automatically detects media on a website I have been downloading videos from since the beginning of the week.  I was downloading videos from there yesterday with no problem.

Video DownloadHelper doesn't give me this problem with youtube, but it definitely is on this other website.  The website appears to use the Vimeo player for its videos.  In order for
Video DownloadHelper to detect the media, I have to actually start playing the video first.  Even clicking the "Analyze Page" button won't work until I start playing the video.

Here is the information on the software I'm using:
Video DownloadHelper
Version 7.4.0
Browser locale: en-US
Production build
Built on Tue Dec 15 2020 17:14:16 GMT+0100 (Central European Standard Time)
Build options: browser=firefox

Here is the information on the companion app:
Found companion app: VdhCoApp 1.6.1
Companion app binary: C:\Program Files\net.downloadhelper.coapp\bin\net.downloadhelper.coapp-win-64.exe

I am using Video DownloadHelper on Firefox, version 86.0.1 (64-bit), and it is up to date.

Please help.

You are describing normal VDH behavior. When you open a page & VDH detects variants to download
without you launching the video, that is an exception. It is an unusual occurrence. Most web
sites, YouTube among them, don't send out information VDH can analyze until you hit play on the
video. Sometimes, it's enough to simply change the resolution without launching playback & VDH
will pick up variants it hadn't seen before. All of this is a side-effect of the way the web site
presents information to your browser. Some web sites present no information to the browser until
prompted by you launching playback. Some web sites present information on a default resolution
variant without you launching playback. Some web sites present information on several variants
without you launching playback. Most web sites don't send information on every variant available
until you switch resolution & launch playback at your chosen resolution. There is no international
standard for this behavior. VDH is at the mercy of what the web site presents to the browser. You
are not reporting a new problem. You are documenting in admirably clear language how VDH behaves.
It sounds to me like there is some sort of change in the operating system or the browser that is
prompting the changes that you erroneously believe show up a fault in VDH. You will find a whole
spectrum of situations as you surf around the web. VDH acts different on different sites. That's
how it works.

As an aside, it might have been helpful if you had posted URLs of 3 or 4 web pages where others
could attempt to replicate what you're seeing.
