Failed download unable to aggregate solution?

If you are getting an error downloading from YT with a failure to aggregate, go to the VDH options Behavior and enable "Force H264 tuning in aggregation". This immediately removed the error from any video that was giving me that problem. Might work for you. Bon chance.

I made that change and it still fails.  It has been an intermittent problem the last few days but now seems to be impacting everything I try to download from YT...today.   As an aside, I tried another App for downloading videos.  It is called SurFast.  The other day, stuff VDH would not download...it would.  But now even it will not.  Everything I try to have SurFast download errors between the 19-22% point in the DL.  These are all 1080p mp4 downloads.

Issue started about 2 days ago.  some videos work after many refreshes and some will just load download.

Yep....looks like the recent fix has already been undone again by Youtube. Going to get to a point where it won't get a fix I fear

Did start a couple of days ago. I found it was occasional, refreshing would fix, then thought one at a time worked but queued would fail to agregate. But from today, its ALL files again

I got one to download today.  Then it took forever to aggregate.  Only a 4min video.  Then tried one again from yesterday.  Nope. Nope nope. tried every trick in the book.  Finally got it to download with one of those malware sponsored sites.

Only reason I download...stuff disappears from YT.  When I find something awesome...poof, it is gone.

There is a thread with the title "How to download from YouTube" that has been updated
today. You need to do what it says in that thread in a post dated July 17. You need to
do that once. Apparently, you needed to do it with 8.0.0.0 but you don't need to do it
again. Make sure you've done it. If you don't remember whether you've done it, it
causes no harm to do it again. It's a one-time thing & allegedly, you won't need to do
it again, according to what Michel posted over there.

Also, it appears that some YouTube pages do need to be reloaded even though 8.0.0.0a3
beta claims to have solved that problem. That's also discussed over in that other
thread. I have been having success on YouTube with this latest beta, but I've had to do
some page reloads sometimes. Sometimes. It doesn't seem to be consistent. Always try
reloading the page a couple of times. It takes 3 failures before I would say something
has definitely failed. Read the posts in that other thread from the past day or two.

Lengthy aggregation times usually point to your not having a license. VDH writes the
watermark during aggregation. This can take an enormous amount of time, even on a short
video. Read more about it by starting here:

Read the first 2 paragraphs there. Then search for "philosophy" within the text of that
web page. That will give you a reference that contains a link. Click the link & read

VDH 8.0.0 now is downloading nothing no matter how I play with the settings. Everything gets an aggregation failure error. It just isn't working at all, neither in Firefox nor Edge which I don't use except for testing and viewing PDF. I am using another download pluging which is limited to 720p since I don't feel like paying for another high resolution license, but it has a problem in that when it is enabled, clicking on videos brings them up but they do not start to play; they have to be started manually. When the download program is disabled, videos play the moment they are selected, so that downloaded is not a perfect choice either.

There is a recent beta: 8.0.0.4a2. You need to get that. Then there's the one-time step
I talk about upthread. Read this thread from the top of this page & you'll find the

And now VDH is fully working again. There is no way to tell what is changing in the background to prompt this behavior. Let's see how long it lasts. Hopefully until I am done breathing. 🤞

Yes, it is working though for me, mkv downloads work best.  ADP MP4 (which will play in the MacOS Finder) are being VERY grumpy.  They download, but then there is a lengthy aggregation process.  Once completed, the videos only play well, if played straight through.  Try to jump to a point and it gets stuck.  This is in VLC and Quicklook.  And yes, I have a license for VDH which is active.  I had a few successful downloads then a rash of fails apth ADP MP4.  After restarting Firefox, back to success.

Happy to be back in business with at least mkv on YT.  Still no joy with FB or IG.
