A version 1.0.10 is currently being uploaded and will soon be available from https://github.com/mi-g/vdhcoapp/releases/edit/v1.0.10
But this will unlikely change anything and Symantec will probably get that false positive.
You can report false positives here: https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/

Video DownloadHelper Companion App 1.0.10 is also tagged as a security risk by Symantec, and it will not execute.

Is there any recourse?

I don't understand why they (symantec) to this, even more that the app is code-signed.

There will probably be one more coapp, 1.1.0, to add drives detection, then the coapp should not change for a while, so at some point, the app will white-listed at symantec.

Did you try to report the false positive to https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/ ? i cannot do it myself as it ask questions you can only answer when have the problem.

I took my chance and submitted the false positive report to Symantec, guessing some of the answers. They were fast and i just got this reply:

Thanks but this issue has been addressed for version 1.0.10. They say it may take up to 24 hours to replicate on their servers. But maybe you will have to reinstall the app: apparently getting a file out of quarantine is not that easy.

Anyway, this will probably happen again at the next version of the coapp :/

Thanks for reporting the issue.
