Checking companion app returned: Failed to start native messaging host.

I have the Video DownloadHelper extension on Google Chrome but I am not able to use it because it cannot find the companion hap which I have already installed. My computer is running on Windows 10 and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the extension and the companion app.
