A Short Film About John Bolton (Neil Gaiman, 2003)
A documentary film crew takes a look at the inspiration behind artist
John
Bolton's painting. Driven by the creative mind behind Coraline (which
is a
fantastic film in both 2- and 3-D, and just out this week). What
drives
Bolton's creative energy – where do his other-worldly creatures
originate?
If there is a documentary more scary than Hell House, this might be
it!

Remake Watch
~::~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~::~
We video geeks like to keep an eye on the remakes that They like to
threaten to make from time to time – and it seems like our Brave New
World is gearing up for lots and lots of sci-fi remakes in the not-too-
distant
future. Some of them pique our interest, some make us yawn and a
select
few scare us so much we lose sleep.
Not all of these are set in stone – but the scuttlebutt is that we'll
be seeing
most of these, whether we like it or not:
Robocop
Darren “The Wrestler” Aronofsky has been hard at work on the script
for
the Robocop remake. Will he direct it? Will Mickey Rourke find yet
another
new lease on life? Will they also remake Robocop 2?
The Creature From The Black Lagoon
The Crazies
Flash Gordon
Breck “Sahara” Eisner, son of longtime Disney chief Michael Eisner
and
former PA on Tango & Cash, has three remakes in the works. The
Crazies,
another big-budget remake of a George Romero classic, is already in
post-production and stars Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell – so
maybe
it won't be that bad? Maybe? Details on the other remakes are much
more
fuzzy, but who could possibly surpass Queen in making a Flash Gordon
soundtrack?
The Witches
Frankenstein
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde
Guillermo Del Toro has to finish about a million things, including two
movies about The Hobbit (which is itself technically a remake) but
he's threatening to scare us all Victorian style with his future
remakes. And what's more scary than Victorians?
The Illustrated Man
Fahrenheit 451
Frank Darabont, who must be some kind of superhero because he's really
been the only director to make Stephen King novels into good movie, is
said to be putting out two 2010 Ray Bradbury remakes. It's a logical
progression going to be hard to find a suitable replacement for Rod
Steiger's Illustrated Man; perhaps less difficult to update Truffaut's
slow-moving take on Fahrenheit 451.
