Tentcon 2021 Sign Ups Are Live!

Initial sign ups for 40k/AoS tournaments and select special events for Victory Gamers' 6th Annual Tentcon are now available! Please sign up using Sign Up Genius at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4DA8A72EA4FA7-tentcon1 .

Tentcon started as a huge 40k game one afternoon in a tent in the club founder's backyard, but has grown to become a two-day affair in a 40x30' tent with multiple games and events. This year Tentcon will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 & 6, in the back parking lot of Crescendo Studios in the Merrifield area of Falls Church (same place as last year).

For the time being, sign ups are only for tournaments and selected special events. Currently the special events are 40k Apocalypse, 30k Horus Heresy, Lord of the Rings, Blitz Bowl, Dropfleet/Dropverse Commander, and Marvel Crisis Protocol. Additional special events may be added, and slots for open gaming (any game!) will also be announced. You will be able to sign up for those additional games and open gaming after the announcement.

The club asks for the following monetary contribution per person to participate in Tentcon:

• 40k/AoS Tournaments - $50
• Apocalypse - $40
• Sunday AM Games - $20
• Sunday PM Games - $20

These contributions are needed to cover the cost of renting the site, tent, tables and chairs for the event. Contributions can be made via this PayPal Pool link (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8y5Ncdv2Rc).  

Free beer/water/soda will be provided throughout both days, and a grilled lunch will be served both days from 1-2 pm at no additional charge. A grilled dinner will be served on Saturday evening for tournament players, included in the contribution price.

We will follow guidance from state and local authorities for the event. We will not require vaccinations to participate, but we will follow mask and social distancing mandates that are in effect at the time.

It's less than a month to the club's biggest annual event, and additional opportunities to participate in Tentcon on June 5-6 are now available!!! 

First, some slots are still open for the 40k Tournament and other events that were already available for sign up.

Second, wait lists have been created for the 40k and AoS Tournaments if people were not able to sign up, but would like to take advantage of any cancellations or drops.  Open spaces will be filled in order of sign-up position on the wait lists.

Third, open gaming slots have been created for tables on Sunday morning and afternoon! If you just want to play a pick up game or a board game or run a D&D adventure, sign up for a table! One person can reserve the table, and then it is up for that person to arrange other players directly with those players.  I still ask that everyone who plays makes a contribution to the PayPal Pool to help cover the costs of the event, but this will be on an honor system.

Fourth, there will be a separate 20x10' hobby tent available all day Sunday, where people can paint or otherwise engage in non-gaming activities.  There is no sign up for use of this space, so space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis (but there should be plenty of room).  Again, if you have the means to contribute to the PayPal Pool to cover costs, that would be very much appreciated, but contributions will be on the honor system.

Fifth (and most important!), sign up slots have been made available for volunteers.  Tentcon has gotten too big for me to run by myself, and I would like to participate in the fun too.  I will be available to run things overall, but dedicated volunteers are needed to help with set up and breakdown, to get ice each morning, and to be the grill "pit crew" to work the grill during lunches on Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Saturday. Please sign up if you can. Anyone signed up for pit crew need not contribute to the PayPal pool; your service in the pit is contribution enough!

Masks will still be required at the event, even if vaccinated, unless the governor changes his executive order to allow otherwise. Capacity limits have already been raised for outdoor events to allow us to run the event at normal size. Will continue to monitor the situation and make any changes necessary to comply with Virginia and CDC requirements.

Very excited for what looks to be the biggest and best Tentcon ever. Hope to see you there!
