Tentcon is this Saturday and Sunday, so just a quick communication on what to expect and what you might want to do.

(1) Sign Up to Play. There are still slots available for open gaming as well as some events (MCP, Blitz Bowl, Necromunda, AoS training).  The place to do this is the Sign Up Genius page (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4DA8A72EA4FA7-tentcon1).

(2) Just Hang Out (or Paint).  People are welcome to watch the 40k Apocalypse game (loudly and boisterously) or the AoS and 40k tournaments (quietly and respectfully) on Saturday. On Sunday, the Apoc 20x10' tent will become a Hobby Hang Out place for anyone to paint, chat, or just hang. You will need to bring your own paints and supplies though if you want to paint. And of course, feel free to stop by to watch events on Sunday.  No need to contribute anything if you just want to paint or hang out (although any contributions to the PayPal pool to recoup expenses would be appreciated!).

(3) Eat & Drink.  For Saturday lunch (12-1), I have ordered sandwich and cookie platters from the nearby Harris Teeter instead of grilled food because we need to feed all the tournament players quickly during the 12-1 pm break and can't risk a chance rain shower shutting down the grill.  For Saturday dinner (6-7) and Sunday lunch (1-2) we will get the kettle grill going for grilled food. We'll have snacks, water, soda, beer and hard selzer drinks free of charge all day both days.

(4) Bring Stuff (if you want).  We'll have snacks and drinks free of charge, but if you want to bring a six pack of your favorite beer or a bag of your favorite snacks to share, we're not going to stop you! On Sunday, we will have the grill open for lunch.  We'll provide burgers and dogs, but if you have something you want grilled, bring it and maybe the grill pit crew will cook it up for you if you ask nicely.

(5) Prepare for Hot Weather.  It's going to be hot this weekend. Like 90 degrees, middle of July hot.  The tents will help keep the sun off, but it will still be hot.  So dress appropriately and bring/wear sunscreen.

(6) Bring What You Need for Gaming.  We have all the club's terrain and mats for this weekend, and have rented tables and chairs.  All the terrain and mats will be in use Saturday for the tournaments and Apoc game, but they will be available for use on Sunday.  That said, if your game requires particular terrain or mats, you will need to bring them yourself.

(7) Chip In.  The club suggests the following monetary contribution per person to participate in Tentcon:
  • 40k/AoS Tournaments - $50
  • Apocalypse - $40
  • Sunday AM Games - $20
  • Sunday PM Games - $20

These contributions are used to cover the cost of renting the site, tent, tables and chairs for the event, which have been paid for out of pocket by the event organizer (me). Contributions can be made via this PayPal Pool link (https://paypal.me/pools/c/8y5Ncdv2Rc).

BONUS - Do You Like Hard Punk Rock Music? No? Well you're invited anyway to a free concert of three bands in the Crescendo black box theater onsite on Saturday night starting at 8 pm, ending at 11 pm. Two of the bands are semi-pro touring bands, and the third is my 18-year old son's band (which is actually pretty darn good in the genre). It will be loud and fun and very punk (so probably not family time friendly).  The event will have under 21s in the audience, so no alcohol at the event per Crescendo's and Virginia ABC policies.

IMPORTANT OTHER STUFF:

Remember the address of Tentcon is Crescendo Studios, 8101a Lee Highway

Falls Church, VA 22042.  Parking is available in the front parking lots of the studio. There is a paved driveway to the back parking lot where the tents will be set up. There is no parking in the back lot due to the tents.

See your tournament rulespacks for start times of the AOS and 40k Tournaments.  Otherwise AM sessions are 9-1pm and PM sessions are 2-6 pm.

Tentcon is always fun and memorable, so hope to see you this weekend at one of the events!
