HEADLINE NEWS:

  • In Person Gaming. The club is leaving it to individuals to decide when and how to play games in person. Victory Comics has not resumed in-store gaming, but Huzzah Hobbies is taking reservations for gaming tables.   We have resumed using our reservation for Sunday afternoons at the Board Room (1-6 pm) but I would like to have people sign up to limit numbers in the space (iup to 10 people). Please remember to bring and wear masks while at the Board Room. Here is the link to sign up for Sundays in January and February via Sign Up Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4DA8A72EA4FA7-board.
  • Club Dues. It's time to collect money for rent of the Board Room storage and Sunday afternoon gaming space for January through June 2021. The amount to raise remains the same - $1800. As usual, there is a PayPal pool opened for this purpose: paypal.me/pools/c/8vLut6z5Wj. Asking for 30 club members to contribute $60 per person to meet the rent. Please contribute any amount you can within the next two weeks. Any overage will be used to buy new terrain, mats, and/or tables for the club's use.
  •  Club awards. The club is happy to announce the winners of the 2020 Victory Gamers year end club awards. Club members nominated club members for each of the four awards, and the nominations were narrowed down to four per category.  After all votes were counted (and some of the categories were very very close indeed), here are this year's winners:

    Most Competitive -  James O.
    Most Narrative - Ben M.
    Best Painter - Sam S.
    Favorite Opponent - Michael D.

In addition, the club will be recognizing Victory Comics and the Board Room as our "Hero of the Year" for the challenges they overcame in 2020 that allowed us to continue to shop and game.
  • Club Instagram. The club launched its Instagram account at the end of 2020, with daily postings of members' models, WIPs, and game shots. Follow at victory_gamers_club.
  • Plans for 2021.
    • Tentcon 2021. Club intends on holding its 6th Annual Club Tentcon event on the first or second weekend of June. Ideally, it will be held in the same space as last year but with an even bigger tent. The event will have 16-player 40k and AoS one-day tournaments, plus tons of narrative, Apocalypse, 30k, LotR, AI, AT, KT, Warcry, Dropverse, MCP, Legion, and whatever else people want to play.  Size will depend on what the pandemic situation will allow. More discussion to come.
    • New Club Terrain, Mats, and Tables.  For 2021 the club will be able to provide terrain for four tournament-level 40K and two tournament-level AoS games simultaneously at the Board Room. This is requiring us to update, repair, and expand our existing terrain, mats and tables. Ideally, we will also increase the amount of storage space at the Board Room by (1) getting access to more space, and/or (2) replacing the bulking folding tables and board toppers with Alpha Tables. More discussion on this to come.
    • Blitz Bowl tournaments. The first Sunday of every month will host a Blitz Bowl mini-tournament at the Board Room, thanks to the enthusiasm and efforts of club member Adrian. New players welcome.
    • Kidshammer will return with an event in February. Details to be provided. AImed for kids ages 10-15 (but younger allowed with permission and if accompanied by an adult) Kidshammer has been a staple of the Victory Gamers club since its founding and has been part of the NOVA Open the last three years. Focuses on AoS at 1250 point level.

WEEKLY EVENTS:

TUESDAYS - Age of Sigmar at Victory Comics, 6-9 pm. All welcome to battle it out in the Mortal Realms. [ON HOLD]

THURSDAYS - Kill Team at VIctory Comics (6-9 pm) [ON HOLD]

SATURDAYS: Warhammer 40k / 30k at Victory Comics (6-9 pm) [ON HOLD]

SUNDAYS

  • Open gaming and socializing at The Board Room in Arlington, 1 pm until 6 pm.  The Board Room sets aside a section of the bar/restaurant for us to put up to four 6x4' tables and gives us part of a storage locker on site to keep our tables and terrain. The Board Room is a great place and offers the chance for drinks and food while playing Warhammer 40k or Age of Sigmar (or Necromunda or Kill Team or Titanicus or Blood Bowl or whatever you want!). Learn more about it at www.theboardroomva.com.
  •  Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game (LotR) happens regularly every Sunday afternoon, 1-6 pm, at Victory Comics [ON HOLD] and on an ad hoc basis throughout the week.
AD HOC GAMING: Check the Skirmish Whatsapp chat for discussion and meet ups for the games below.

  • 30k. 2020 was the year of pandemic and heresy, as the club went big into 30k. Games are played regularly every Sunday afternoon at the Board Room.
  • Aeronautica Imperialis.  Great looking models in a skirmish-sized game of aerial combat.
  • Adeptus Titanicus.  Everyone digs giant robots, and Adeptus Titanicus gives you the chance to fight with the biggest in the Grim Dark.
  • Blitz Bowl. It's Blood Bowl, but even more fast paced and fun. See news above about monthly mini-tournaments on the first Sunday of every month at the Board Room.
  • Dropzone/Dropfleet Commander Dropfleet is probably one of the best non-GW miniatures games out there, so highly recommend it to any interested in Battlefleet Gothic style big ship combat. Dropzone is more akin to Epic.  Both have great models and stories.  Generally playing on Sundays at the BoardRoom.
  • Necromunda.  Generally plays on Sundays at Board Room.  Club campaign hopes to re-start in 2021, but it currently remains on hold.
  • Malifaux. Steam punk and western themed game. Great models, fluff and ruleset.
  • Marvel Crisis Protocol.  Members are playing this game. Join the Whatsapp chats if you are interested in playing too!
  • Star Wars.  There has been renewed interest in Star Wars: Legion and Star Wars: Imperial Assault.
  • Warhammer Underworlds. Probably the most tactical game GW has to offer. Best way to keep abreast is to join the Skirmish WhatsApp chat.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND CHATS:
