HEADLINE NEWS (SO MUCH NEWS!!!):

  • Return to Gaming. The club is leaving it to individuals to decide when and how to start in person gaming again. Victory Comics has not resumed in-store gaming, but Huzzah Hobbies is taking reservations for gaming tables.   We have resumed using our reservation for Sunday afternoons at the Board Room (1-6 pm) but I would like to have people sign up to limit numbers in the space (increased the sign up limit to 10). Please remember to bring and wear masks while at the Board Room. Here is the link to sign up for Sundays in September via Sign Up Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4DA8A72EA4FA7-board.
  • Club Dues. Please consider contributing $60 to allow the club to continue to rent gaming space and storage at the Board Room through the end of the year. The club has almost reached its goal of covering the rental costs, but we need a few more people to chip in. If you can't give $60, then give what you can, but remember that there is no guarantee that the Board Room will make it through this pandemic without paying customers, and there is no guarantee that our club can continue to have reserved space there for gaming if club members don't contribute. Because this club is awesome, we've never not raised enough funds to cover rent in the last two years. But 2020 has been a challenge, so hope you can help out.  A PayPal Pool has been set up to accept contributions at https://paypal.me/pools/c/8t9OdRUJmr.
  • Oktoberfest is here! Every Sunday in October at the Board Room will celebrate all things orky.  Ork players will bring their boyz and toyz to the table to take all comers. For this event, "ork" will also include orcs and orruks, so Octoberfest will be open for multiple game systems (AoS, LotR, KT, AI, Blitzbowl, Speedfreeks, etc.) Although every Sunday is an ork day in October, Sunday the 25th will be a special day set aside for celebrating the greenskins. Warbosses, git yer ladz ready!
  • AoS tournament(s). Club would like to host multiple 8-player mini-AoS tournaments this fall, winter and spring. Still working out location and logistics so it can be done safely. Details to come.
  • 40k tournament.  Club members are arranging a small one-day 40k tournament this fall. Details to come.
  • Blitz Bowl tournaments. The first Sunday of every month will host a Blitz Bowl mini-tournament at the Board Room, thanks to the enthusiasm and efforts of club member Adrian.  Held the first tournament this past Sunday with five players.  Everyone had a great time learning and playing Blitz Bowl. New players welcome.
  • Demo Days.  Sunday, October 11, at the Board Room will be a Dropzone/Dropfleet Commander demo day for anyone interested in checking out a couple of great non-GW games. Open for demos of other games on other days.
  • Kidshammer will return on Saturday, November 14, from 1- 4 pm at Huzzah Hobbies. AImed for kids ages 10-15 (but younger allowed with permission and if accompanied by an adult) Kidshammer has been a staple of the Victory Gamers club since its founding and has been part of the NOVA Open the last three years. Focuses on AoS at 1250 point level. Details to come and will be posted on the soon-to-be updating www. kidshammer.org website.
  • Paintball weekendClub is looking into a club outing to Pev's Paintball in Northern Virginia. It's outdoor, naturally distanced and masks already required. If you are interested, jump on the Great Hall WhatsApp chat to say so, or reply to this communication. Looking at the November time period.

WEEKLY EVENTS:

TUESDAYS - Age of Sigmar at Victory Comics, 6-9 pm. All welcome to battle it out in the Mortal Realms. [ON HOLD]

THURSDAYS - Kill Team at VIctory Comics (6-9 pm) [ON HOLD]

SATURDAYS: Warhammer 40k / 30k at Victory Comics (6-9 pm) [ON HOLD]

SUNDAYS

  • Open gaming and socializing at The Board Room in Arlington, 1 pm until 6 pm.  The Board Room sets aside a section of the bar/restaurant for us to put up to four 6x4' tables and gives us part of a storage locker on site to keep our tables and terrain. The Board Room is a great place and offers the chance for drinks and food while playing Warhammer 40k or Age of Sigmar (or Necromunda or Kill Team or Titanicus or Blood Bowl or whatever you want!). Learn more about it at www.theboardroomva.com.
  •  Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game (LotR) happens regularly every Sunday afternoon, 1-6 pm, at Victory Comics [ON HOLD] and on an ad hoc basis throughout the week.

AD HOC GAMING: Check the Skirmish Whatsapp chat for discussion and meet ups for the games below.

  • Necromunda.  Generally plays on Sundays at Board Room.  Club campaign hopes to re-start. Gangs are being added to the campaign via Yaktribe. Contact Martin Rauscher on the Whatsup chats for details.
  • Dropzone/Dropfleet Commander Dropfleet is probably one of the best non-GW miniatures games out there, so highly recommend it to any interested in Battlefleet Gothic style big ship combat. Dropzone is more akin to Epic.  Both have great models and stories.  Generally playing on Sundays at the Board Room.
  •  Warhammer Underworlds. Probably the most tactical game GW has to offer. Best way to keep abreast is to join the Skirmish WhatsApp chat.
  • Adeptus Titanicus.  Everyone digs giant robots, and Adeptus Titanicus gives you the chance to fight with the biggest in the Grim Dark.
  • Aeronautica Imperialis.  Great looking models in a skirmish-sized game of aerial combat.
  • Blitz Bowl. It's Blood Bowl, but even more fast paced and fun. See news above about monthly mini-tournaments on the first Sunday of every month at the Board Room.
  • Malifaux. Steam punk and western themed game. Great models, fluff and ruleset.
  • Marvel Crisis Protocol.  Members are playing this game. Join the Whatsapp chats if you are interested in playing too!
  • Star Wars.  There has been renewed interest in Star Wars: Legion and Star Wars: Imperial Assault.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND CHATS:
