Wanted to share news about the upcoming Pyrriah Omnibus Campaign that was announced back in September and that will be kicking off in November.
Pyrriah is the planet on which the club’s narrative campaign was originally set. It has a long history, but in brief Pyrriah was once an Aeldari Exodite planet whose population mysteriously disappeared and that was later settled by Humanity and brought into compliance during the Great Crusade. The Black Templars established a chapel fortress on a mountain on Pyrriah, and a major Ad Mech forge facility (called Neversun, in the far north polar area) was constructed, but has now been abandoned and lays derelict. Pyrriah has hive cities, oceans, wasteland deserts and deathworld jungles. Most recently it was attacked by forces of chaos led by a Khorne warlord named Khartax the Insane. The Black Templar chapel garrison has mysteriously disappeared, and a band of chaos inspired Ork warbands followed the forces of chaos to loot the planet. Dark Angels descended onto the planet to defend it, and the Black Templars launched the Promethium Crusade to avenge their losses. And a lot of other stuff happened as well (including Drukhari raiding parties appearing, a Tyranid hive fleet tendril invading, and a black hole-like warp rift manifesting nearby). There will be lots of chance to dive into the fluff if you want, but that the gist of what Pyrriah is.
An Omnibus Campaign means that the campaign will involve all of the Warhammer 40,000 game systems (plus Adeptus Titanicus, even if it’s set in 30,000). So there will be Crusade games, matched play games, Apocalypse games, Kill Team games, and Aeronautical Imperialis games - all linked as part of forging the narrative of the world. Obviously that’s a lot, so the structure will be set up so players will get to decide. Pyrriah will be divided into zones, and within those zone will be “pods.” Each pod is a group of players who will work together to set up games and keep track of the narrative for that zone. For example, a pod may include players who just want to play Crusade games or AI games. So they set it up so Crusade games are influenced by the outcomes of prior AI games. In addition, the campaign will be run in waves, with wave one running from November through January. A second wave will reshuffle the pods and build on the outcomes of wave one.
More details to come, but looking forward to returning to club wide events! And btw, a Kill Team tournament and campaign are coming too. More on that soon!
