Hi All,Divisional FixturesPlease see attached fixtures for the second half of the season.
Thanks ever so much to Peter Holman (Fixture Secretary) for compiling all of it.And thanks to Firoz, who is in the process of double-checking, then loading onto CricHQ.Do Note:
- There could be a change, if we notice any errors
- Please do check your own fixtures for any errors.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------Cup
- Please do make all efforts to complete your cup games on the day with either:
- A full match
- A reduced overs match
- A bowl out
- A game of crazy golf at the pub (joking, but......)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If absolutely necessary, we will reschedule cup games, but it will push the cup competition later into August, so please do try and complete one of the above.
- Please remember that you can only field players who have already represented you in the league this season, as per the following rule:
15. A player shall not play for a side in the Cup unless they have previously represented that side in the League. In addition, Cup teams cannot field any players who have played for other Victoria Park Community Cricket League sides during the season; note that this clause does not affect eligible players who have played as a "guest" for other teams (as under Rule 5).Elite Level PlayersI was the inaugural Chair of this league, about 28 years ago now.I all that time, we have been clear that this league is not meant for 'elite level' players. We used to re-iterate that principle at each AGM, but we haven't for a while. There's currently a very good player netting at VP.He's been content to simply field, if asked to make up the numbers for a team. However, one team has persuaded him to play for them, and open the batting with him - predictably blasting away the (not-too-shabby) opposition bowling. There's nothing we can do if a team decides to field (and prioritise) such a player, but I re-iterate.....this league is not meant for players who have played 'age-level' for an Australian state side, and currently represents a top Essex League team (or equivalent elsewhere in the world). This is just an appeal to good sense..... there's nothing to be done if such an example persists---------------------------------------------------------------------------BallsPlease do check you have enough balls.Remembering that League teams always supply the ball for a cup match against a 'guest' team.If you have borrowed a ball from another team, then do get one back to them.---------------------------------------------------------------------------Stumps/ScoreboardsPlease do remember to get your stumps and scoreboards from the pub - the Peoples' Park Tavern'Each team collects a set of stumps.... the home team (or league team hosting a 'guest cup' team) collect and return the scoreboard. The use of a scoreboard is now a compulsory requirement for both teams.---------------------------------------------------------------------------Finally......Despite a number of struggles on the organisational side, I'd just like to point out that this seems to be the most harmonious season for many a year. There has been only one, very minor, negative report from a match. It also seems that no-one has had to suffer a 'no-show' from their opponents; again, the first time in years. The weather has, generally, been favourable.Alas, two guest cup teams have pulled out of this week's matches, but we can't have it ll!!!It would seem that everyone's enjoying this season.I hope the second half of the season is just as good.Regards(Homerton CC)Gary Horsman07803 124492Secretary
