This lathe cleaned up nicely. Thankfully there was not too much rust to deal with, mostly grime and swarf that was in every conceivable crevice. I think I got all of it, but would not be surprised if a few stray chips still show up. The lathe came with a lot of extras, including a complete set of change gears, 4 faceplates, two chucks each with 2 sets of jaws, a bunch of centers, tooling and a quick change tool post and holders and more. The one lone gear has several broken teeth. One faceplate has the same serial number as the lathe (3516) and some of the components had B.57 in the castings. Other than that there are no other markings indicating the maker. Unlike some manufacturers Drummond did not seem to feel the need to paste their name everywhere. :)
The headstock and tailstock can be turned to turn tapers. There is a tapered pin in both to establish them perpendicular to the ways.
I still need to connect the motor and jack shaft and of course power, but thought I would share a progress report.
