[Victoria Golf Society] Auberge Claret Jug - Formby Ladies Golf Club

What a beautiful day at Formby Ladies Golf Club for our final game of the season: the much coveted Auberge Claret Jug, sponsored by the Auberge Restaurant in Southport.  The golf course was in perfect condition, and some of the scores reflected that position.  Sadly only 11 golfers were able to play, but Evan Bale couldn’t stop smiling after a absolutely terrific round of 40 points, including 3 blobs.  Back to back trophies for Evan, who has improved his golf over the season – all down to new clubs his lovely wife bought him (so he said at the dinner later that day).  The top three places were all very close, with Paul Stanson 2^nd on 39 points and Kevin Allars 3^rd on 38 points.  Val Snape won the longest drive on the 10^th and Colin Murray the nearest the pin on the 5^th (missing his two in the process!) – two’s, however, for Peter T Watson and Kevin Allars rounded off the prizes, which were presented by secretary Chris, in lieu of Captain Alex, after a lovely meal at the Auberge Restaurant.  Our thanks again to the fantastic team at the Auberge Restaurant for sponsoring the main prizes, and serving up a great meal.  So, for now, it’s a goodbye to 2013, and a Merry Christmas to all our readers.
