[Victoria Golf Society] Alan Bleeze Memorial Trophy

Sadly the wet weather hit us for the Alan Bleeze Memorial Trophy event at Formby Hall Golf Club, but 15 golfers did their best to enjoy the day and to fill the water hazards up with golf balls.  Alan’s widow, Jackie, joined us for the ‘dinner of the year’ after the golf, and presented the minor prizes: longest drive on the 7^th to Mark Starr and nearest the pin on the 16^th to prospective member Dave Gant.  As to the main event, Dave Gant had the best score (33 points) but was ineligible for trophy honours on this occasion.  So .... on 32 points Evan Bale won the competition, but had to leave before Jackie arrived, so was presented his trophy by Captain Alex Rugen.  Mark Starr was 2^nd on 31 points, with Dave Gibson 3^rd on a back 9 score of 26 points from Alex.  The food and banter was first class, and a tired troop meandered home after an enjoyable day of VGS golf, capped by those present also eating for those that didn’t stay for the meal!
