Hurlston Hall Golf Club
was the venue for the Cochrane Trophy this year, although sadly other
commitments got in the way for many members, meaning a low turn-out of only
8. That said, the weather was absolutely
glorious, and those not there were no doubt very jealous! Alex Rugen returned from his holidays to win
the trophy on 30 points, closely followed by Steve Neale on 29 points and Peter
T Watson on 28 points. Alex Rugan again destroyed
the field with a monster of a drive to win the longest drive (we’re going to
have to tie his shoe laces together), and Chris Edwards chipped a delicate shot
onto the green to win the nearest the pin.
Steve (what a round!) Neale and Captain Charles Shepherd both had 2s, so
all in all a great day on what was described as a difficult long course, but
one in great condition. Captain Charles
again offered up an added bonus of the best stableford points on holes 1
through to 4: Steve Neale pocketing the prizes.
