We've had
some poor weather recently, but the early autumn visit to Childwall revealed
one of the very best days of the year. Childwall Golf Club was
particularly welcoming to us, with a beautifully presented course and excellent
catering. We were delighted to welcome three guests - Denise, Renee and
Neil: all reported to having had a great afternoon with us, so much so that two
have now joined as Society members. Late entrant Byron Williams, who has
been practising secretly at Prenton, came away with the trophy with a highly
creditable 35 points. Pete S Watson was 2nd with 34 points, and Kevin O'Donnell
3rd on count back with 32 points. Denise
was comfortable nearest the pin on the 6th, and captain Charles hit a belter to
secure longest drive. The much anticipated captain's prize was awarded to
the athlete carding the fewest putts on the back 9 holes, and Kevin O’Donnell
walked off with the whisky with a miserly 13 putts. Well done to everyone:
see you all again at Formby Hall Golf Club on Friday 17 October.
