What a lovely warm and dry day for golfing at Wirral Ladies Golf
Club, and what a welcome we had. A short
but very tricky tree-lined golf course, with heather and bunkers all over the
place, and one that those that played it will want to return to in future
years, despite Kevin and Charles having really tough times on the day. A rather small turnout again, but the 9
golfers enjoyed their day, with 8 staying for a feast of gammon and cheesecake
(not together) to follow. Peter S Watson
won his 2nd tournament of the year, despite his ever falling
handicap (which will fall even more now), and carded a fantastic 35 points
(with 2 blobs and a 4 pointer on his card).
Steve Neale was 2nd, for the second time in a row, on 33
points, with Peter T Watson 3rd on 31 points. Kevin Allars won the longest drive on the 18th,
with nobody hitting the very tricky 8th green for nearest the
pin. No 2s either! Captain Charles offered up another two
surprise prizes for beating him on mystery holes: Peter S Watson won the first
miniature Glenfiddich, and then ‘everybody’ won the same for beating Charles on
a hole he blobbed. A great day, and
thanks to Charles (silly man) for all the whisky.
