Iam a bit curious what happens with the numbers when you get them initially in string format and you convert them into a number, because for small numbers, they appear displayed as 2*E^-10 for example and if I introduce this number into a Revit parameter which is a number it is displayed in same way, so not sure if that number is a number or just a text, not sure if I could sort a schedule as ascendent or descendent with those small numbers.

I know that for sure, but even being a number parameter, not sure if how the numbers displayed are an issue when you read in screen a number ending in E-12 for example. I am expecting that for example a number displayed as E-12 is lower than 1 in a schedule, so if I export to Excel for example I cannot sort by number I think, I would have to export a number like 0,000000000000001 instead of 1E-12.
In resume, by default all is a string, but if I want a number in Revit, the input needs to be a number, although it is displayed as scientific number when converted into a number, but if I want the number in a schedule not inside Revit, I think I have to make it work with full decimal numbers displayed instead, but maybe I am wrong, it is just a perception of behaviours with numbers
You have multiple options available to you for selecting the type of element you target for renumbering. You can choose to renumber Doors / Windows / Rooms or manually select the Family and Family Type.
Step 3: Apply the algorithm and format the output. After you have chosen your elements you can apply the algorithm by pressing Calculate. After the renumbering has been performed you can choose to apply formatting to the output:
The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from the Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin.
To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 10/11) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
If I try to use naming I get an error message when selecting the sheet number parameter. (even though the sheets clearly have numbers). I tried in both my own company template and the sample project. Is this a bug or a problem on my end?
Are you using the Revit Preview Release? Did you not sign a non-disclosure agreement about that? I would have thought that all such discussions should be restricted to the non-public Revit Preview Release discussion forum.
When we import pdf files in Autocad References files to get back data from that , we see several metadata things are there which are Revit specific. We have Revit License also. Can we get the elevation related informations , sections related informations and the level related cross mapping informations directly from these pdf files (anyhow in Revit?) since the pdf is generated through Revit.
We have our inhouse semantic parser(Reading pdf file from scratch as binary reader and with specific lookup as per Revit and Advance Steel Experiences to read design documents) on pdf but that looks over work when several pdf commented type meta data is already there when the pdf is generated from the revit model itself. If we can get these metadata conditions inside pdf files then several RFI things can reduce and projects outputs can get faster
Yup, that seems pretty intuitive. I passed on your input to the development team. As it stands now, I guess you would have to manipulate the file name after it has been created. Let's see whether they have a better suggestion.
it would be nice, if empty parameters would show no character insted of the sample value. I have to save two different settings for export and constantly check and change set of plan to which the export setting is applied to. Is there some workaround?
I'm recreating a street set of stairs that is located by my site area, and as such need to place exactly 19 risers, but I can't do it at all. Everytime I enter the desired number of risers it gets grayed out and Revit "forces" me to have only 15-17 risers.
I don't know of a way to modify the number of risers of an existing stair without changing the overall stair height. When I run into such cases, I just simply recreate the stairs edit the existing stair, delete the existing run, and create a new run with the desired number of risers.
Nonetheless, I think it is what I said (increase or decrease the number of risers/steps)...IF ONE NEEDS TO CHANGE RISER HEIGHT after placing the stair. One has more or less entered Manual mode where Actual no. of Risers is now fixed (as per Initial Placement). So unless one wants to increase the height of the riser and maintain the number of steps; one will need to adjust them to go with the total height required to reach a certain Level/floor
And vise versa...if user wants to increase the number of step; as you mentioned, it will be higher than the Destination Level..so ultimately user has to reduce riser height and that goes via edit stair and adjust "Desired Numebr of Risers"
It is like saying the same sentence writen once in English and once in German... the german one tends to look/Sound like the same but backwards (with subliminal Messages) ... me and my sense of Humor lol but hey they cant accuse me of racism for that...I am German rofl
Anyhow; I won't mention anything about skinning cats and the 1000000 ways to do it ...JUST IN CASE the moderator or some sneaky chipmunk turns out to be cat Lovers and take that metaphore literally...And you'll be surprised if you knew the everlasting Generation old love Story between chipmunks and cats
But, if your point is that I didn't use enough words in my original post to Ana; okay, you got me! Maybe I could have better articulated and not been so cryptic. But, in my head, I knew exactly what I meant. HA!
See that's why you shouldn't undermine beginners and their potential and capabilities to learn and understand things the right way ... getting old might be something nice but it does have it's downfalls... example: Sight and vision (two things which are quite sharp when one is a beginner)
There was no criticism at all, Buddy. It's a sweet picture. I would never make a derogatory remark about a man's bike, kid...or wife. That's not me. If it came across that way; my apologies. That was not my meaning.
I have created a multi-storey staircase and now I want to tag the tread numbers. There are 72 steps. I am able to tag these steps correctly in section. They go from the ground floor at step 1, up to the 4th floor at step 72. However, when I go to my plan view, the tread numbers are 55-63 and 64-72 on every level (it's a dog leg staircase with 9 steps - landing - 9 steps). How do I get the tread numbers to read correctly on each level?
Download DiRootsOne ReOrdering (part of DiRootsOne 1.9.0.0)A free Autodesk Revit plugin that allows you to renumber Revit elements/instance parameters by using a prefix, a suffix, and a multiplier. You can do it randomly, one by one, or using a Detail Line.
