GDAL plugin

Hi,

Thanks for the new release! RHEL 7 support sounds promising.

You also mention a GDAL plugin in the announcement, but I can't find it in the repository. Where could I have a look on it?

BTW, I "wrote" (it was probably more a "fiddling")  the vicar driver (read-only) in the gdal repository... mainly based on the existing PDS code.

Hi Sebastian,

 

You should find it in vicar_gdalplugin/install/x86-64-linx/lib/gdalplugins/gdal_vicar.so for the 64-bit Linux build. If you have gdal installed, you should be able to just copy this *.so to its lib/gdalplugins directory.

Hi Sebastian...

Great to hear from the original developer of the existing gdal plugin!

It would be really nice to have "official" (fully compliant and
read/write) VICAR support in the standardly-available gdal.

Assuming our version of the plugin works for you (we'd like to hear
about any bugs of course), would you have any objection to replacing
your old plugin with this one in the main gdal repository?

If you have no objection, would you have any pointers to how we could go
about doing that?
