Mandatory requirements:
Mandatory requirements that must be met by the candidate include:
1) Experience working with Cúram software data models - specific experience
with extracting and manipulating data and developing business use data
models will receive additional points
2) Experience working with MS SQL developing information products - specific
experience with extracting and manipulating data and developing business use
data models will receive additional points
Rated Requirements:
Desirable qualifications will be given important consideration in assessing
suitability of the candidate and they include:
a) At least of 5 years proven expertise in Data Warehousing.
b) At least 5 years broad industry experience including data architecture
planning and management and associated methods and processes.
c) Expertise in data and process modeling and application design (At least 3
years of direct involvement in large information systems projects).
d) At least of 1 year expertise with Data Modeling Tools.
e) At least of 3 years experience in modeling and designing systems using
relational databases.
f) At least of 3 years expertise in IT project management and systems
development methods and tools.
g) knowledge of Children and Youth Services business and processes
h) experience working with flexible demands and meeting conflicting
deadlines working on multiple concurrent projects
i) proven ability to function at all levels of the organization,
particularly at the senior levels (provide project references)
j) experience working with Cognos business intelligence tools
k) experience developing documentation
l) experience with VMWare
m) experience integrating financial information with program information
n) proven organizational, planning, estimating and communications skills

Responsibilities/Tasks:
The candidate will be responsible for:
. Facilitate the effective definition, vitalization and management of the
Alberta Children and Youth Service's (ACYS) business intelligence
environment;
. Work closely with stakeholders across the ACYS System. The resource is
responsible for the identification of data requirements and developing
necessary data strategies, methods, design principles, standards etc. that
will effectively provision data throughout the enterprise;
. Provide support and direction with respect to the use of Cúram data models
and using them to meet the information needs of stakeholders.
. Encourage data models and practices that reduce data redundancy by
promoting reuse/sharing;
. Identify and document enterprise data requirements;
. Encourage practices that improve data quality;
. Provide information, advice, guidance, and consultancy to ACYS
stakeholders who are defining or aligning to the ACYS System Data
Architecture - thus promoting compliance to the Business Intelligence
Environment and ITM Strategies;
. Assisting in creating proposals, including solution alternatives and the
identified cost of ownership for individual project requirements;
. Respond to stakeholder requests for extensions to the scope of the
Business Intelligence Environment;
. Lead or assist in communications activities surrounding the ACYS Business
Intelligence Environment; and
. Establish and participate in design reviews, regular or ad-hoc
architectural reviews, and issue management meetings - ensuring correct
interpretation of the InfoMart, and Information Technology Management
Strategies.
