Production is underway on the new Netflix action thriller series, Mercenary: An Extraction Series, which has been partially filmed in Ireland and is led by Lupin actor Omar Sy.
The streaming service has shared the first behind-the-scenes look at the series, which recently wrapped filming in Co Wicklow's Ardmore Studios and is resuming production in Morocco.
As well as French actor Sy, the series also stars Boyd Holbrook, Natalie Dormer, Waleed Zuaiter, Ed Speleers and Sacha Dhawan.
The series will consist of eight episodes, with directors Louise Hooper (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Sandman) and Tim Southam (Foundation, One Piece) each directing four instalments.
Glen Mazzara (The Shield, The Walking Dead) is showrunner and it will be executive produced by AGBO, the production company founded by directors Anthony and Joe Russo.
A logline for the series reads: "In this action-packed thriller, a mercenary (Omar Sy) embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya.
"Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting deep emotional wounds.
"The series explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts of characters pushed to the edge."
Mercenary: An Extraction Series is set in the Extraction universe, one of Netflix's most successful film franchises to date.
Extraction is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks.
