2FM's David O’Reilly confirms he's leaving Drivetime show with Lottie Ryan
Tara McCormack

In a recent development at 2FM, David O’Reilly has confirmed his
departure from the Drivetime show, marking the end of a five-week stint
that also saw Lottie Ryan temporarily co-hosting.
The announcement comes as Lottie confirmed her exit from the show while
clarifying that her brief tenure was always intended as a short-term
arrangement and that she will continue to work on the radio station.
Many assumed that her departure was abrupt, considering her decade-long
role at 2FM and the excitement surrounding her landing her own show.
However, Lottie has firmly dispelled any notions of discord with the
station.
In her statement, the former Dancing with the Stars winner explained:
"The term ‘summer schedule’ has led to some confusion, implying a
12-week duration. To clarify – the plan was always for a short-term
cover, and I knew this from the start. The phrase ‘summer schedule’ has
led to all this confusion. I’m not going anywhere and am very much part
of 2FM.”
David echoed similar sentiments, confirming his departure alongside Lottie.
Reposting her statement on social media, David expressed his gratitude
and pride for the opportunity.
He penned: "I love @lottieryan1! I love the entire team @RTÉ2FM and am
so proud to be part of it. Getting asked to do Drive for five weeks was
the greatest opportunity and one I’m so grateful for.”
The actor also commented on his and Lottie's camaraderie directly on her
post: "Love you, my friend. What a blast we have had and are having."
As both personalities step down from their roles on Drivetime, the
question of who will take on the slot full-time remains unanswered.
Speculation is rife, with TikTok star Kayleigh Trappe rumoured to be a
potential successor. However, RTE 2FM has yet to confirm any new
appointments.
For now, the 2FM Drivetime show awaits its next permanent host, leaving
listeners and fans eager to see who will step into the spotlight next.
