"BBC extends UEFA deal for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland internationals
The BBC has extended its agreement with UEFA to continue broadcasting every senior men’s international involving Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland live and free-to-air until June 2028.
The two-year extension covers around 60 matches, including this autumn’s UEFA Nations League fixtures and every qualifier for UEFA Euro 2028 involving the three home nations.
The BBC says audiences have responded strongly since becoming the exclusive free-to-air home of the matches in March 2025. Scotland’s World Cup qualifying win over Denmark attracted an average UK audience of 2.7 million, while this summer’s World Cup opener against Haiti reached a peak of 2.8 million viewers despite a 2am BST kick-off.
Rhuanedd Richards, Interim Director of BBC Nations, said the extension ensures supporters can continue watching every match live without charge, describing the fixtures as “some of the biggest shared moments in our sporting calendar”.
Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, said international football creates moments that “unite communities, spark national pride and generate huge audiences across every platform”.
The agreement means the BBC will continue to show every Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland men’s international through to the end of the qualifying campaign for Euro 2028. The tournament itself will be staged across the UK and Ireland and broadcast live across BBC platforms."
