Laura Fox and Katja Mia 'buzzing' to launch new RTÉ 2FM Drive show

2FM Drive co-hosts Laura Fox and Katja Mia have said they're "buzzing" for listeners to hear their new show.
Kicking off on Tuesday, 5 May, the programme is part of a major daytime schedule shake-up at the station. The three-hour show promises plenty of caller interaction, great contributors, and, of course, plenty of craic and banter from Laura Fox and Katja Mia.
Laura Fox first joined the station as a permanent fixture in January 2022. In May 2024, after Jennifer Zamparelli's shock exit, she took over the mid-morning weekday slot from 9am – 12pm.
Katja Mia, who finished up on Virgin Media One's The Six O’Clock Show last month, made her radio debut on 2FM last October when she stepped in to cover a weekend programme.
The pair agreed that their long-running friendship and mutual respect for each other, along with starring together on RTÉ One's Dancing with the Stars in 2024, is what will make this show such a blast to work on.
Recalling how they first met, Laura Fox told RTÉ Entertainment:
"I first met Katja in 2019. We clicked straight away. It was at a Dermalogica event - I’ll never forget it. I was with Emma [Power] and she was by herself, and we spotted each other from across the room.
"We spent so much time together when we were on Dancing with the Stars. Since then, we’ve met regularly for lunches and coffees. Even before this, we were going to each other’s weddings," she explained.
Katja Mia agreed, saying that while it's surprising they’ve never worked together before, they’ve been on a similar journey.
"Over the years, we’ve always had mutual respect for each other through Instagram, and then doing Dancing with the Stars together and becoming friends - this feels so exciting. We are absolutely buzzing to start on Tuesday," she shared.
Laura Fox said she loves the buzz of live radio and its unpredictable nature, adding:
"You’ve no idea what’s going to happen at any time. That’s what I’m really excited about. I’m excited about three full hours of caller interaction and having listeners on.
"We’re keeping Aindriú de Paor - he’s going to be part of the show. We’ve loads of great contributors who will be coming in, but mainly it’s just going to be me and Kat, and we’re going to be there for a good time in your afternoons, driving you home."
2FM Drive with Laura and Katja airs weekdays from 3pm to 6pm.
