Open casting calls are being held over the coming days in Ireland for the second series of a yet to be named historical TV drama ahead of filming this August in Wicklow.

The new Amazon Prime series, which has been given the codename "Bluetooth", is described as "a sword and shields saga". The first season of the show has already been filmed and is due to air early next year.

Producers say they are looking for "thousands of people to apply" from all over Ireland to take part in the new shoot and that they will be employing people from August to November, with "many exciting scenes to take part in".

Casting days will take in Wicklow on 9 July and in Dublin on 13 and 14 July.

In a statement, producers said, "We are scouring the island of Ireland, high and low, looking for extras to participate in our swords and shields historical saga! We will be looking to hire 1000s of extras over the duration of the show which will surely be an epic adventure.

"We are appealing to anyone with an interest in history, TV, film, the filming process, acting or, to those who simply want to experience something different, meet new people, earn a few euro and see some of the most beautiful scenery in the country while doing it."

The casting calls are open to adults, 16+. For children under 16, parents can request an application form ext...@btproductions.ie.

The Wicklow event takes place at the Parkview Hotel, Main Street, Newtownmountkennedy on 9 July, anytime between 10am to 5pm.

The Dublin event takes place at the Camden Court Hotel, Camden Street Lower, Saint Kevin's, Dublin 2 on 13 and 14 July, anytime between 10am to 5pm.

Organisers say that the audition process will take around 20 mins and applicants need to be a full-time resident and living in Ireland with a working visa and PPS number.
