Jenna Ortega’s goth heroine is back to stalk the halls of Nevermore Academy.
This season — filmed largely in Co Wicklow — has been split into two parts. Now the second half arrives, complete with new pale and peculiar faces.
Most intriguing among them? Lady Gaga, joining the fray in a mysterious new role.
Appropriately, the second half drops on, you guessed it, Wednesday.
Dev: Rise and Rule, RTÉ One, September 3
This two-part documentary takes a fresh look at Éamon de Valera, Ireland’s third president and one of the most influential figures in the nation’s history.
Moving beyond the myths that have long surrounded him, it offers a more measured assessment of his life, his politics, and his enduring legacy.
The Paper, Sky Max/Now, September 4
The Office taught us that workplace misery can be hilarious. The Paper has bravely taken the baton and applied the formula to a crumbling local newspaper, The Toledo Truth Teller.
Domhnall Gleeson stars as the peppy editor-in-chief trying to keep his doomed rag afloat while surrounded by misfits, cynics and burnt-out hacks.
Expect belly laughs and bleakness in equal measure.
Highest 2 Lowest, Apple TV+, September 5
Spike Lee and Denzel Washington reunite for the first time since Inside Man (2006) — and it’s worth the wait.
Lee’s 25th feature is a bold reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low, a crime thriller about power, class and moral compromise.
Already playing in US cinemas, it lands on streaming worldwide on September 5.
Task, Sky Atlantic/Now, September 8
Brad Ingelsby gave us one of the best dramas of recent years with Mare of Easttown, and hopefully he can work his magic again with this seven-part series from the HBO stable.
Mark Ruffalo plays an FBI agent leading a team investigating violent home robberies in Philadelphia.
The cast also includes Cork actress Alison Oliver.
Only Murders in the Building: Season 5, Disney+, September 9
Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez return with their podcast mics and impeccable comic timing for another season of the beloved whodunnit.
Season four was possibly the sharpest yet — so expectations are sky high.
Expect more twists, red herrings and deliciously dry one-liners from TV’s unlikeliest sleuthing trio.
The Late Late Show, RTÉ, September 12
After a summer hiatus, The Late Late Show and Patrick Kielty return for a new season.
The long chatshow format feels well-jaded at this stage, but hopefully the Co Down man can keep it interesting and entice enough interesting guests to go beyond the safe celebrity-speak.
Black Rabbit, Netflix, September 18
Jude Law and Jason Bateman star as chalk-and-cheese brothers — one a suave Manhattan bar owner, the other a reckless crook — who find themselves drowning in debt and trouble.
Enter (Oscar winner) Troy Kotsur as the ruthless crime boss pulling their strings.
It’s a pulpy, pressure-cooker thriller set in New York’s concrete jungle and it can’t be missed.
Slow Horses: Season 5, Apple TV+, September 24
The least glamorous spies in London are back for another round of espionage and dysfunction.
Gary Oldman’s gloriously dishevelled Jackson Lamb continues to lead his team of MI5 rejects through treacherous missions with plenty of dark humour.
Four seasons in, this series has never missed a beat — the fifth promises the same.
House of Guinness, Netflix, September 25
Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) turns his eye to Ireland’s most famous export: the Guinness dynasty.
Set in 19th-century Ireland and New York, the drama unfolds in the wake of Benjamin Guinness’s death, as family rivalries, business ambitions and plenty of spilled stout shape the empire’s future.
A frothy mix of history, scandal and the birth of the black milkshake.
Do you automatically get a few free tins if you watch House of Guiness?
