Dear somesh and all ,

Please forward this mail for collection of funds.

From

Ramesh Kasondra.

Dear Friend
I'm proud to tell you that I have decided to raise money for Gram Vikas Trust . The reason that I'm doing this is that I feel that fortunate people like us need to do our bit for those with less.
I am hoping to raise at least Rs. 2,00,000/-  to help this cause. Gram Vikas Trust  will use this money to Chage a life of Needy girl to Provide a bicycle for going to School for  Higer Education.
In the hands of a girl, this bicycle is independence, education and economic self-sufficiency. In the hands of 400 Indian school children, this bicycle is the promise of a better life for entire communities and generations to come.
In costal villages of Vagra and Bharuch block  as in much of rural Gujarat, fewer girls attend school than boys. Long commutes expose vulnerable girls to personal risks; household obligations, poverty and early marriages also contribute to high drop-out rates. The resulting lack of education- and opportunity - is then passed along to their children, perpetuating the cycle.
According to the World Bank, "there is no investment more effective for achieving development goals than educating girls." UNICEF speaks of the beneficial 'multiplier effect' that comes from making sure girls are educated.
A bicycle changes everything.
With a bicycle, girls can safely travel four times the distance they do on foot. Education and opportunity now within reach.
Thanks to you last year, Gram Vikas Trust distributed more than 300 specially engineered, locally assembled, rugged bicycles to impoverished schoolchildren in rural area of Vagra block - 90% of them girls. With your help, this year we'll distribute more.
I'm counting on those near and dear to me to help me achieve my target.

Please support me by clicking on the link below:
You will be taken to my iGive page where you can make a secure online donation. You will get a receipt via email that you can use for tax deduction purposes.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Regards,
Ramesh Kasondra

Q3 Ans

When a family faces a financially tough time, education is always considered of least priority. Being born and brought up in an impoverished family, Ramesh faced a rough time taking his education to completion. Gauging Ramesh’s interest & talent, the village society leaders decided to help him and fund his education. Despite the funding, Ramesh could not afford to purchase books and tried saving as much as possible. For example, he managed the payment of hostel fee by giving tuitions to his room partners and skipped lunch most of the times to reduce living costs.
A major turning point came when Ramesh completed his diploma in civil engineering. Achieving distinction meant that he had the opportunity to work full-time with any of the established firms in India and go forward with a settled life. He went back to the village society leaders to show his appreciation and gratitude. When he arrived at his village, he felt disheartened to see his childhood friends, though extremely talented, but working for very low wages as they could not get the financial support from the village leaders and hence remained illiterate. Ramesh pro-actively shared his feelings with the village society leaders and realised that his village is still facing problems related to hygiene, suppression of women & specially lack of focus on education because of lack of financial assistance.
Though starting a career as a civil engineer was a dream turning into reality for Ramesh, he took a step further and decided to help his village and other poor families by empowering them with education. He has dedicated his life towards a single goal of ensuring dignity to all these villages.

Ramesh ji,

Answer to the 2nd question

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try. In 2001, when Ramesh started
the Gram Vikas trust his vision was simple – to cover the education of a large set of
poor children in rural and tribal regions. What started with the community sponsored
education programme for the poor children is now a mission with higher goals of
achieving sustained development of underprivileged sections of the society.

In the past ten years, under the aegis of GVT, more than 27,000 children have been
directly supported in 174 villages of Bharuch and Narmada districts. More than 100
children completed their education and got employment, more than 1100 children were
freed from labour and enrolled in schools, and more than 1000 girls were enrolled in
high school through bicycle distribution projects.

GVT has also helped in imparting professional and vocational training to the poor
families. It has helped more than 1100 school dropout children to get vocational
training. More than 350 eligible children were helped in pursuing ITI (Industrial Training Institutes)
and apprenticeship training and more than 250 of them were employed.

Primary and pre-primary education have also been given a boost through enrolling
more than 1200 children for ‘Balwadi’ and ‘Anganbadi’ programs and more than 1400
children for primary schools. More than 6000 children have received constant help in
the form of education materials and learning guidance.

Ramesh ji,

Please look at this answer for the first question, we are working on the rest of the answers too. Let us know if it needs any changes

1.In your own words, why does your Nominee deserve recognition?

“The value of a man resides in what he gives and not in what he is capable of receiving.”
                                                                                                                      -Albert Einstein

Mr. Ramesh Kasondra has dedicated his efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of
underprivileged. From a small beginning, and in a span of just ten eventful years he has managed to
empower the underprivileged community, especially children and women.

Ramesh was born in a poor farmer family. Early in his life, the sad demise of his father pushed his
family further into the economic hardships. Receiving help from village elders, he completed his
studies. The childhood struggle for education and lack of resources instilled a feeling of community
empowerment in him. In 1985, he was appointed as site supervisor with a well-known NGO Aga Khan rural support
programme. There, his one of the notable achievements was a successful implementation of
co-operative irrigation scheme for poor farmers. His stints in tribal and rural areas further
intensified his desire to help needy children.

In June 2001, he founded Gram Vikas Trust in Bharuch district in Gujarat. He started with sponsoring
education of poor children himself. Gradually local village council and rural bank staff helped with
small funds. Over the time, the trust received recognition from local government and corporate
associates enabling it to take large-scale projects.

Today the trust covers more than 170 villages in Bharuch and Narmada districts and runs projects for
education, health and livelihood support in these villages. His contribution to the people of these districts
is unparalleled and he rightly deserves recognition for his efforts in the upliftment of humanity.

Dear Somesh and all,

As desired by you i am giving some hits for point no.3 as under :

I grew up in dire circumstances. “My mother inspirations in my life, She gave me all my values”. "My family wasn't very well to do, materially," but I recalls. My education was on a help of village society leaders. I have never purchased books and other educational item throughout my education tenure. i wouldn't take lunch at college tenure to save one time cost;  Somehow I managed to earn hostel fees through the tuition of my room partners. I am live in hostels because my room partner bear the cost of my share against their term work and tuition charges.
In the year 1984, I passed out with a distinction and a Diploma in Civil Engineering.
“I was very happy the day I received the diploma certificate in hand. I went to village society leaders to thank them for all their support without which I would not be a literate.”
After civil engineering, while I sought full-time employment with established firms, I came to realize what my childhood friends had missed. My friends, who were as talented as  Me, worked at very low wages. Unfortunately, they did not or could not seek the help of society leaders for assistance.
Soon, I began discussing the problems with social leaders. The social leaders involved me in discussions regarding the hygiene problems, suppression of the women folk, children education, and support for livelihood.
“Though I was desperate to start my career as a  civil engineer, my association with the social leaders and with the realization of how lucky I was to get support from the society, my resolve to give something back to the needy grew stronger day by day. I came to realize that giving something back to the needy, voluntarily, is being bigger than oneself.”
“I grew up in poverty, and today my life is all about the poor again. I want them to live in dignity.
I myself realized  Education is increasingly recognized to be at the heart of the development process.

i will send you other point details in due course of time.
withe regards,

Ramesh Kasondra
