I was playing around with the chrome dev tools when I noticed that whenever I logged on to Facebook over HTTP, the network tab in the dev tool could show me the body of that request and the username and password present in the packet body.

I then switched to HTTPS (even ticked the setting in the setting page to always use HTTPS). Even then, my password was still appearing in plain text. Why is that? Below are screenshots proving that. (Note I input the wrong password for security reasons)

I recently got a new iPhone 8. Ever since then, my LAPTOP has been sending me a message. (I'm not sure if there is a connection between the two devices but it started happening right after I got the new phone.)

The message pops up and says "Facebook Password Required" and instructs me to "Enter your password for in Internet Accounts. When I try to do that it tells me that the password is not valid. Now it's certainly possible I'm entering the wrong password, I have too many, but I'm pretty sure it's one of the ones that I have tried so far. The other thing is, I'm not at all sure why it's asking me for this information because I can access Facebook both on my laptop and on my phone. But it sure seems urgent because as soon as I click "Close" on the notification, it pops up again.

So, if anyone can tell me why I'm getting this message, that would be great. And what I can do about not entering the right password (since there is no Forgot Password? link), that would be great too.

Thanks for responding. I have done this. In fact today, just to be sure I was entering the correct Facebook password, I reset my password. So I'm 100% positive I'm entering the correct password, but this message keeps popping up and saying Facebook Password Required. I've done it both ways - by clicking Continue when the message appears, and by going directly to System Preferences as you suggest. I would like to just ignore the message. There doesn't seem to be any issue with me accessing Facebook or any other area of the internet. But it's annoying and I don't know how to make the message stop.

I share your pain and your experience. I have gone through completing the request to enter passwords and used the suggestion of going through preferences as given and same outcome, password/account not valid and then..... - that blasted pop up comes back asking to enter my password for Facebook and internet accounts. I would really appreciate an understanding of why this is happening because clearly it is not an isolated occurrence - and I haven't changed any of my equipment so thats not a reason. Do hope someone can help because its really annoying!

I'm having the same problem and really wish someone had an answer. I've gone to the system preferences and entered every password I think they are asking for (gmail, Apple ID, facebook). I'm not even sure which password they are supposedly requiring. Regardless, every one I enter is invalid and I know they are correct. HELP!!

This is clearly an Apple system problem, how do we get someone to respond and advise what they have done to result in this annoying situation? Dont Apple monitor this site? If so - come on Apple sort this out for us please! I just want this annoying pop up to go away for good!

This is annoying and here is why? If you are using a Mac you can't post pictures from the Photos onto Facebook. You also can't post music from the music platform. This is ridiculous. Will someone at Apple please respond?

Is this something new then because it has only started coming up on my Mac for the last week or so. I have made no changes to any of my Apple products so can only assume that there have been some application changes made by Apple? I wholeheartedly agree - Apple obviously caused this, they should fix it because its bloody annoying.

It started happening on my iPhone 8 Plus 2 days ago but once I entered my password it went away. Still happening on my Mac. It makes no sense. I guess Apple support does not monitor this site because I see no response from them. Frustrating.

I have the same issue. Only thing that took it out was, on the Preferences, Internet accounts, I un-checked the four boxes: contacts, calendars, notifications and share menu. it stopped it, but probably stopped some things I need, but it is so annoying to get the pop-up, that I don't care.

I don't understand what you mean by "Internet Connections" and deleted your FB account. Do you mean "Internet Accounts?" And if so, how do you delete the FB account from there? I am still having the problem of the pop-up but am not sure how to get rid of it based on the things I have read in this thread.

2) If no joy, delete your Facebook account by selecting it, and using the [-] button below the list to remove it. Then add it back, taking care to enable ONLY the options you will use every day. You can always add more later.

Ever since the recent update I keep getting a pop up asking me to enter my facebook password. I've been told to go into my settings and delete the Facebook account but it won't delete. Facebook says this has nothing to do with them because it's not the Facebook app. I have deleted the app it's self many times. I can't even log into the app because that pop up keeps coming up. So I haven't downloaded it again. And I'm still getting that pop up, even when I'm writing this it's popping up asking me to put in my facebook password.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If your Facebook account won't delete from Settings on your iPad, I would recommend trying first to force Settings to close and try again, then a restart, and finally a reset, in that order:

Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I have the same problem. Confused why the settings would allow a mode where you are being prompted for the password but have no option to change the user name. Seems to me the design of this is flawed.
