I've used ezdoc and chase plane. Ezdoc was one of those addons I refused to fly without. The camera system in MSFS is so simple yet so powerful, especially the drone camera I can do everything in msfs I could in ezdoc and I don't have to worry about ezdoc crashing.
EZdok Camera (EZCA) is a camera and effects system and manager that enhances the pilot experience in FSX/Prepar3D. It offers view control in Flight Simulator for easy navigation throughout the virtual cockpit and cabin, around the aircraft, and around the Flight Simulator world.
File Description:
This is a set of saved camera files that you can import into EZDok (EZCA) in FSX to improve or complement the cameras you may already have made. They include several payware common aircraft, some of them you probably have. Instructions in the Readme file inside. The files are free. Use them as you see fit. Feel free to tweak and re-save them, or share them with others, as long as it is free and it is used in a legal copy of MS FSX and a legal copy of EZDok and the payware aircraft you like to fly. Lets all support our hobby.
File Description:
This package contains camera sets created for the PMDG 737NGX to be used with EZdok V2 and FSX.This is an unofficial distribution, I created these camera sets for myself as a user, uploaded for others to use.All camera sets have optimized zoom, positioning and effects. However, please note that these are optimized for my system and could need tweaking for your system (zoom/positioning).These camera sets have been tested with EZdok V2.6.0.24 and FSX only, not tested with earlier versions of EZdok or other flight simulators.

Not really looked into it and this may prove to be a bit of a red herring, however, I did discover a Config file specifically for defining cameras in the APPDATA folder, copy/paste the line below into your File Explorer window:
I suspect there will be limited support via SimConnect coming soon as there are 34 variables mentioned in the SimConnect docs relating to either Cockpit or Drone cameras, none of which seem to provide access to absolute position though.
"I really like to use the HAT Switch for cycling through Categories and cameras in EZDOK! up and down to switch camera and left and right to switch Category. However I would like to leave The world camera category out of this. I would like to just switch between Virtual Cockpit and Aircraft Cameras with the Hat switch. I do love my World cameras but if you accidentally nudge the hat switch the wrong way you end up in the middle of the ocean and when you nudge back the other way the scene is a complete mess and takes a good 60+ seconds to load the scenery.
I want to use the left/right HAT to cycle between Virtual Cockpit and Aircraft views only and up/down to cycle through cameras. I figure there is not way in the GUI to do this but is there perhaps some .cfg edit that I can do to make EZDok behave this way?"
I didn't say that. Dave's question was " . . . I want to use the left/right HAT to cycle between Virtual Cockpit and Aircraft views only and up/down to cycle through cameras. . . " and that's exactly what I've done (except for the Up and Down part). I can switch from any VC camera to the default aircraft cameras (outside cameras such as FSX's default Spot Camera) by using EZdok's 'Hat switch as button' feature by using a button to toggle the Hat switch between the two modes (Default mode=Pan, Hat switch as button mode=when another button is held on another joystick (CH Throttle). In this mode, the left side of the Hat switch is assigned to 'next in current category' (Default View System - the A and S keys) while the right side of the Hat switch is assigned to 'next category'. It's a bit of a trick to setup but once you get it set up, it works flawlessly.
Switching between categories is the Problem. There are 3 Categories: Virtual Cockpit, Aircraft and World. I only want to switch between the Virtual cockpit and Aircraft using the LELT/RIGHT On the hat Switch. So ideally if I nudge the hat switch Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Left etc. I want to get Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, Aircraft, Virtual cockpit etc. instead of Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, World, Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, World etc. The same if I nudge the switch right, right, right, right etc. Right now I have to rely on muscle memory. So if I an in Virtual Cockpit and I want to switch to Aircraft I must nudge the HAT switch right and if I am in Aircraft and I want to switch to Virtual cockpit I must nudge the HAT switch left. I either case if I get it wrong I end up in the World camera Category and that's a horrible mess that ruins the flight experience! Thanks, for all the suggestions. I was hoping that some EZDok config file edit would do the trick.
I agree Dave and I wish I had an answer. It's annoying to endup in the World Camera category if you're not at the airport that the world camera was set up for and I understand that this is a fix that is intended to be included in V2 of EZdok if ever it is published. My understanding is that Marniftarr's health is the cause of the delay. Lets wish him well. If my memory serves me right, I seem to remember reading on the EZdok forum about someone who had figured a way to prevent the World Camera category to be part of the sequence in the 'next category' feature. If I find something, for sure I'll post it.
I went to FSUIPC and saw some lines under "Axis assignment" called "View Camera select 0" up to 9, and I presume they are used to point the camera to a certain position after pressing a key. Can you tell me how to use this? How do I point the camera to for example the FMC and "record" and save that position? That would be quite useful.
I don't know exactly what they are (they are P3D controls), but normally "select" controls just select something, not move it. Are you sure they are listed in Axis assignments, not buttons assignments? Sounds like they view different existing camera views.
If you have cameras set up, or just want to use the default ones, then those selection controls might be useful. But the default ones tend to be "Cockpit", "Virtual Cockpit", "Spot", "Fly-by", "Top-Down", and so on -- those views you can also select from the menu. if you look in the CAMERAS.CFG file in your FSX in your AppData\Roaming folder, then the camera entries sometimes have:
