They took into account my weight, riding style and needs to determine what was the best option for me. They never tried to sell me something I didn't need. We determined that the R1 model shock sprung for me would be perfect. I do some occasional spirited street riding but the bike doesn't go to the track so the R1 will be installed as a set it and leave it for the most part for me. I don't need the added cost of the remote reservoir and adjuster.
The thing to remember with any stock bike in this price range is you are getting good components but the majority of the money is in the motor and electronics of the bike. If Yamaha built the bike to higher specs all around and then built the bike to order for each individuals riding style and weight, the price point would be a lot higher. That is why you see such a price difference in the bikes like the R1M, MT10SP and the other manufactures higher spec bikes. Even then you are still not getting the best of the best or a bike that is tuned for you. This is the reason it is so damn expensive to build a race bike.
Me as an aggressive street rider and an occasional track enthusiast, this was really dangerous and unacceptable and didn't want to have any further relation (direct on indirect with this person/merchand/dealer/service repair center).
The product is very good, I could say the build quality at least in the outside is far better than ohlins, with the plastic black ends or adjusters, but ohlins is a company with a lot of dealers and service center and choices. So I sold the ntr 3 and got the ohlins.
Whilst not relevant at the moment, Nitron do have offers at end of year, December, on the remote preload with shock. As a previous post, the NTR1 is great for the road, but the NTR 2 is better if your going to track day it regularly. If your Mr serious on the track, NTR3. Unless your carrying a passenger randomly, you don't need the external preload. Adding the preload after you buy a shock is an expensive way of going about it. Nitron customer service in U.K. was excellent for advice. I'd always been an Ohlins fanboy, but think ? Nitron s build quality is better for the buck, but that's just my thought, not fact. . Let's be honest, a spring out of my chair is better than stock. The better rear shock on its own will not make the front worse as such, since they are inbalanced to begin with and the forks are meh, but the rear will be so much nicer, you'll notice the front even more. However that will still improve the ride no end. If money's no object, Matt is right, get it all sorted. If not, shock first, forks later.
I am really, really leaning to get the full kit here, shocks and cartridge kit. Just want to have any sort of feedback on the cartridge kit.. I would have gone instead for the matris set (shocks and cartridge) since they're substantially cheaper, but I've already read that the forks have the compression leg all screwed up but since I'm not american it would be a lot of work to get the fix from pattonme and put it all to work I guess.. I don't know if it's worth the hassle or not, or if I'm just better off splurging on the nitron set. Budget is not a huge issue.. if anyone could provide any input here I'd be really appreciated
I was also, there was the part of me thinking something bad had happened (family funeral) etc. and I realised every Tom,Duke, and Harry wants him to re-build their suspension after the racing season has mostly ended. Jeez people are so demanding, me included. I somehow managed to get over myself, (PHEW) and just roll with whatever happens, will happen. I have time before I need his services and feel it best to go with the flow, in the meantime 70F Degrees today scrubbed in a new rear tyre. I had fun doing it too, tomorrow is looking about the same so Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho it's off to the twisties I go.
In light of the pretty lousy job I've been doing this spring on fulfillment turn-around I am making the following changes.
* shipping in of forks for service/install will only be accepted between Nov and March.
Exceptions are possible but will ONLY be done via reservation (online calendar here) and upon confirmation of kit being built and allocated.
* GSXR retrofits are mostly retired. I will still be making some up and maybe doing some cool things like Big-Piston forks, but since they take so much time and effort to do, I will instead be providing Andreani, Matris F15k, and Ohlins NIX-22 for ready consumption. If you really want the GSXR option you may need to be patient.
Hello from Blightly all, and although I know this is an old post, I thought I would chip in. In October 2018 I persuaded/nagged the very clever head honcho of the bike dept at Nitron into finishing their tvt cartridge kit and using my bike as the final development mule. They had previously dismantled another set of forks in 2014 but not progressed. Unfortunately the fork bottoms do require machining out to fit their 22mm cartridge kit. I ordered an R3 shock with HPA at the same time. When I collected the bike the shock wasn't fitted, and the first thing to say is that DON'T run them with a standard shock. The soggy stock rear and firm front meant no weight on front wheel and instant lock up even on a hot day. Once I'd fitted shock and set static sag (added preload rear, wound right off front) I took it out and found the front too stiff on compression and rear perfect from the box. I've wound all the front compression off and even pulling stoppies I still have unused travel. So on their advice I am removing 5ml fork oil at a time to soften off the last part of the stroke, but covid19 means we're all on lockdown . I've been riding for 20 years, did more trackdays than I can possibly remember and dabbled in club racing for a few years. I've run ktech and ohlins on race bikes and ohlins on road bikes. I'm no Rossi by any stretch but I have been around for a while. What I can say is that my suspension is almost perfect for fast road/track use, holds a line nicely and isn't bad over bumps. I'm sure the last 1% will come with the oil removal. They're just as well made as ktech and ohlins (possibly better) on the outside, and have superior bump absorption than either on road. My only criticism is possibly the shock is slightly underdamped for a racer with slicks, but that's not me anymore. Hope this helps someone and hope you guys are all safe and well! Oh and customer service is loads better than ktech, who werent bad, and ohlins who cant even need arsed to answer emails from a pleb like me!

Nitron offer a great rebuild service for their shocks so that they can be used and refreshed at a fraction of the cost of a new kit. The build quality of Nitron is comparable to that of a very high end Swiss watch, the fit and finish and finished on their surfaces are extremely aesthetically pleasing.
I could not believe the difference between the Lotus/Nitron 2 ways and the Proper Nitron 3 ways. Lotus have Nitron restrict the adjustment so the clicks on the 2 ways do about half that of the 3 ways. I also found the spring rates selected by Lotus on the two ways to be to firm at the rear on the raod and to soft on track at the front. The Lotus Nitrons use a 40mm front damper and a 46mm rear damper. The 3 way nitrons use a 46mm damper front and rear. So totally different animals so to speak!
My car has got the 3 ways now, -10mm height overall, do not remember the precise numbers, + rake, bit more camber at the front, I can not say what was best, but the car is just way more stable, on B road, understeer has disapeared ( I had some on the road / curborough).
Development of the Nitron damper range has not stopped. We have continued to improve the NTR1. We have two different valve combinations available as standard that we would recommend. This will be dependent upon the car specification and use. We can discuss this at the time of service and decide upon the best specification for you.
Everyone services their engines and other mechanicals. Suspension seems to be treated as fit and forget. From our experience, this should not be the case. Dampers need servicing as do all mechanical components.
