I have tried everything. Before I downloaded the latest Adobe Reader, my pdf bank statements would be automatically changed into documents and I could print them. I did that only about a week or a week and a half ago. Now, these same documents are not available to print. I would like to get my old version of Adobe back but I can't seem to find one. Contact you is close to impossible. I may have to try another reader if I can't print my bank statements. I refuse to pay for this service as I only use it once a month. If necessary, I'll just go non-green and have the bank send me the statements. Very, very, very frustrating evening trying to find answers.
If you are referring to the same problem on the same computer, please keep answering with one id. It's easier to follow-up. In the case you are referring to 2 distinct problems, please answer each one for his configuration.
Several days ago, when I tried to print two different PDF files, I received printing error messages stating that a particular file could not be opened. I failed to copy the error message (my mistake), but the file included the word private and one or two other words, followed by several numbers. Each printing error message had the same words but different numbers. I tried to print a different PDF file yesterday, and received the same error message (different numbers). So I deleted Acrobat Reader from my laptop and installed a new version of Acrobat Reader. I also uninstalled my printer from my laptop and reinstalled it. Now, when I try to print a PDF file, nothing happens after I hit the PRINT button. When I go to the print queue, there is nothing there. Note, I have no problems printing from other files; just PDF files from Adobe Reader.
If that does not work, uninstall your printer. Download the printer's software (again) from the HP service web site and install that software. Until now, this solves my problems with HP printers on Windows systems.
The problem I had with HP printers was having installed "ghost" printers. Sometimes they worked, then I needed to delete them and to install the drivers of the printer from scratch. I always downloaded the latest drivers from the HP site and reinstalled.
3- If that doesn't resolve the issue, try removing Reader using cleaner tool which you can download from here: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs , reboot the machine, install Reader DC from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution
I,ve had a aimilar problem, when printing my TV license. It did print, but only the white text on a blue background I overcame this by using SNIP to select a partial rectangular screen shot and printing from that.
OK- had the same issue but if I open it through a browser (I used Chrome) it can actually print. I think there might be something wrong with my version of Adobe DC that it's not allowing me to print from it.
On a Windows 10 Machine, I have not been able to print my pdf files from Acrobat Reader OR DC, and I assumed the network printer was not working. A couple days ago i tried printing from my Chrome web browser and it worked. I tried printing directly from my Indesign document and it worked. I tried printing from Photoshop and it worked...etc....
I uninstalled acrobat, rebooted, reinstalled and still there seems to be no communication once I hit the print button.
Even stranger, under the page setup, I can't get the preview image to show 11x17 paper, no matter how many times I adjust the properties/page setup. (Need I even mention during all this time my windows say (Not Responding) and freeze up through the process. It takes 20 minutes just to try and print from Acrobat, and I am on a pretty powerful design workstation.
I have had to install Microsoft Edge browser just so I can use that to print my PDF files without any problem and it works just fine, so it is only Acrobat that will not print.
I've tried everything, including resetting the preferences and uninstalling and reoinstalling several times. I have a feeling the most recent windows update I ran is part of the problem.
Hi all. I'm posting this in the hopes that it might help someone else out that may have the same symptom. Last week, my Adobe Reader stopped printing. Nothing I did produced any result. Not hitting the print icon. Not hitting CTRL+P. Not selecting "print" from the drop-down menu. There was no error message. No nothing. It was as if I hadn't clicked anything. I tried repairing the installation, no help. I've rebooted the computer many times over the last couple weeks. Here's what finally fixed it. On a whim, I went to Windows Explorer, right-clicked on the PDF file, and selected "print" from Explorers context menu. Adobe flashed open for a sec, and the document printed. Now, Adobe Reader prints as it always used to do. There must have been some little "glitch" or something going on.
6 years later this is still a problem. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't print a pdf. I tried reinstalling the printer, rebooting, ran the troubleshooter, but adobe acrobat just wasn't sending it to the queue. The right-click print trick mentioned in this forum helped me get around the problem. Running windows 10 with all adobe products up to date.
I'm having the same issue....it's just stopped printing from the Adobe viewer.
If I save the PDF in another folder, if I right-click on the file name and select print....it will print...but gives me no options.Eg if I've got a 16 page PDF and I want to print pages 1-5, it wont let me...it just prints the whole thing.
It doesn't give me the printer menu.
This has just happened a few days ago.
good day Artied2. It seems i'm having the same issue but can you explain a little further. When you say you went to windows explorer, you mean windows file explorer? correct? This would surely insinuate you have the file saved on your pc. My issue is that when i use an online database and request a report, the preview opens Adobe, however when i click on the print icon it acts as if i never clicked. Maybe not the same issue here.
U were very lucky. Does NOT work for me with Windows 10 Pro. I can open the pdf file with Photoshop & print. Terrible help solutions from Adobe company. That's what I expect with them. Previously had an Adobe tech helping me with Premiere Elements. He told me to watch people's videos on YouTube!!! That's a sign of a great tech help department.
Yesterday, one of my clients reported that suddenly, it cannot print PDF files after updating Acrobat Reader to its latest version. The weird thing about this problem, is that the printer doesn't print, only when using Adobe Acrobat Reader to print PDF files, and not with Microsoft Edge or Foxit Reader.
Acrobat Reader DC print problem in details: When you try to print a PDF file from Acrobat Reader in Windows 10 nothing happens (the print process is not start and the print queue is empty), while the printer prints normally from other programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
So this did not solve my problem. My problem was rather than print, the postscript file was saved. Which was usless. I went into Print -> Advanced and untoggled "Print to File". That solved all my problems.
09/26/2023 Just thought I would add something from my clients recent experience: Right clicking on a PDF file and slecting Print option had stopped working on Windows 10 PCs. Adobe Acrobat Reader was set as the default application for pdfs. This was a new version of Acrobat Reader ver 23.6.20320.0. What fixed this was Opening Acrobat Reader and going into the Menu (3 horzontial lines upper left corner) and then select "Disable new Acrobat Reader" then 'Restart" Acrobat Reader when prompted. This set Adobe back to a previous reader style. Once this was done selecting Print from file menu returned working. This also resolved an issue where applications that needed to print pdfs had also stopped. Even older apps that were using "ShellExecute GetDesktopWindow(), "Print"..." now worked.
Could you please confirm if the option does not work only when you use the new UI? Share the current Acrobat Reader version number. It would be helpful if you could share the screen recording so we can get this behavior checked.

Upgraded to MacOS Sonoma 14.0 October 7 2023 and now I cannot print any pdf files from Adobe Reader. Error Message says "The document could not be printed" "There were no pages selected to print". Adobe wants $ to convert to Word. Cannot "Select all" and copy to Word or Pages. Cannot "Select all" and print selection. Same issue with all pdf's. Work around is to open pdf file in Open Office Text and print from Open Office.
I installed 14.1, installed current Canon driver, installed current "Reader" and of course I have Preview, I have a license for Acrobat. . . I can't print a pdf no matter what. Two error types: one is Filter failed, the other is "no page selected." Conversion pretty much wrecks the appearance of the document.
After several months of putting off figuring out this "Adobe PDF not printing" issue, I just found this forum. I have Sonoma 14.1.2 and an Epson Workforce printer. It is fixed (for me anyway) now by deleting my Adobe Reader application and reinstalling the new version 2023.008.20423. Looks like someone, somewhere fixed the issue. Works perfectly now.
Same thing. After installing the latest OS update Sonoma 14.4.1, my Acrobat Pro files will no longer print. Never had that issue before. Tried reinstalling Acrobat Pro and restarting my computer and still the same issue. Please fix this Apple!!!!!
