Hi all,

I have run into the problem that when I want to do a photon mapping simulation (version 0.6 and 0.7). I get the following error that there are non-ascii characters in the project directory file path. Have tried various directory locations with no non-ascii characters in the path or my file name.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Check the vi-suite-log file in Blender's text editor. It may give more information.

the vi-suite-log file shows the follow command

Generating photon map: mkpmap -n 1 -t 2 -e "C:\blend_try\2ndtry\2ndtry.pmapmon" -fo+ -bv+ -apD 0.001  -apg "C:\blend_try\2ndtry\2ndtry-1.gpm" 50000   "C:\blend_try\2ndtry\2ndtry-1.oct"

the blender system console also throws out:

fatal - command line error at '-n'

does the mkpmap call look alright to you?

Thanks a lot for the reply and all the best,
Ian

Found the issue. Documentation notes that -n is not supported on windows. Might it be possible to adjust the call to remove the - n 1 if the OS is windows?

Ah. Thanks for the bug report. I have committed a potential fix to master but I don't have access to a Windows machine at the moment to test it.

Tested and photon mapping now works fine for me on windows - issue fixed.

Thanks very much for all of your great work with VI-suite. Really appreciate it!
