The Pathfinders, Adventurers, and Master Guides of the Atlantic Union join Pathfinders throughout the world in celebrating the life and ministry of Henry T. Bergh, the composer of the Pathfinder Song and one of our last Pathfinder Pioneers, who died on July 15, 2011.
Henry Theodore Bergh wrote the booklet How to Start a Pathfinder Club, started the Pathfinder Coordinator program, held the first Pathfinder Leadership Training, designed the Pathfinder flag, and led the first Pathfinder Fair; yet Bergh is best known for composing the Pathfinder Song in 1949, which is sung by millions of youth and adults, in many different languages, throughout the world.
We would like to extend our condolences to the Bergh family, relatives, and friends with the assurance that we will see him again, and sing the Pathfinder Song together, on resurrection morning, when Jesus, the Strongest Pathfinder, wakes Henry up to attend the greatest of all Camporees, next to the sea of glass.
Together with the Youth and Pathfinder Directors of each Conference in the Atlantic Union, we would like to ask each Pathfinder Club across our Union to observe a Moment of Silence, in your next meeting, in recognition and honor of Henry T. Bergh's life and ministry, followed by the singing of the Pathfinder Song.
