Dear srikanth,

Click here to watch the video!

Hope you are having a great New Year. This year we have a very simple question for our government, “Why this koyla (coal) mining, koyla mining di?”

Coal mining threatens large forest areas in Central-eastern India. The government’s greed for coal endangers the wildlife like tigers in these forests and the livelihood of millions of people dependent on the forests.

Last year over 25,000 people became citizens of the virtual Republic of Junglistan to protect our forests from destruction. Some of the existing citizens of Junglistan got Sheroo and Bhaloo from Junglistan to record their own rendition of the super-hit phenomenon Kolaveri di. The citizenship is still open, more citizens will help strengthen the demand to protect our forests.

So, watch this fun volunteer video from the Republic of Junglistan and share it with your friends and family to spread the word about the safety of our forests.

There is enough energy to power our needs without destroying these forests. Efficient use of the existing coal and electricity and renewable energy solutions can give us the electricity we need, without hurting our forests.

Thanks a billion!
