Hi All,

Here is one interesting open source distribution called "GLPI"

http://www.glpi-project.org/spip.php?article41&lang=en

It's made on php. It does so many tasks related to IT. Below are few
good features:

1) It's very fast and stable.
2) Monitoring of network systems
3) It works with OCS software inventory. Installation of new software
in the network can be monitored
4) Lot many plug-ins are available. One can customize GLPI based on
requirement
5) One can edit the inventory list and maintain the list as desired.
6) It has inbuilt ticketing system.
7) You can add/modify all fields as per the requirement. It's too
flexible.
8) One more positive feature is reporting. You can fetch report in lot
many ways as per requriements
9) IT management
10) Budget management
11) Contract management
12) Vendor management

It's really a good tool for IT department. For SMEs, this software can
really be usefull.

Thanks.

Hello Friend,

Have you implemented GLPI in any projects? I have tested this product but due to unjustified technical documentation from the respective website, i discarded this project. Currently, I am working on OCS-NG which is quite good & installation was completed properly.

Please suggest. I want to implement "php based inventory management system" to maintain my IT product(Software & hardware) records & anyone can view it in a web browser by providing user level authentication.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

We are also using OCS-NG for inventory management. I used GLPI for
testing purpose only.

GLPI runs with two databases - GLPI's own db and OCS db
- GLPI's own db is for glpi tables and GUI console. it does not carry
any inventory.
- OCS is the db which contains CCS tables and list of inventory.

It's good that you have OCS already in place. Just install GLPI on the
same server or another server.
give rights to sql user of glpi server on OCS database and import
computers in glpi.

GLPI is based on php. It's very good tool to use for.

Thanks.
