One more successful seminar : AT Bhavnagar MCA college

Dear All,

I have been invited to conduct a Seminar / Workshop on Linux at Bhavnagar MCA college.

I am very much thankful to Prof. V. R. Rathod (M.Sc. Ph. D), Mr. S.R. Dwivedi and Dr. P. M. Dolia.

I also very much thankful to Mr. Niraj Bhatt for his hardware of preparation of the Linux Lab.

proximately 50 students participated in workshop / seminar.

I am very much thankful to Redhat India ltd. for providing the CAP and PEN for the students with REDHAT logo. ( Thanx for Mr. Prakash Shetty -Redhat very short period the response was very fast and positive. We request on 18th and got CAPs and PENs on 19th lightening speed ).

The college is under CSI, Ahmedabad Chapter, and as a CSI activities we are arranging one workshop of Linux. The aim of seminar / workshop is to provide awareness of Linux and Redhat. We are trying to promote open-source technology through this effort of ours.

The content of the event is

2 hrs. seminar :
concept of Opne source,
Past Present and Future of Open source,
Technology with Opensource,
Power and weakness of opensource and
Students and open source.

Workshop:
Configuration of Apache with other network services ( DNS and host ).
Apache configuration file in detail.
Managing permission
Concept of Virtual Hosting.
Configuration of hosting multiple website with virtual hosting.
Managing directory for Virtual hosting.

Ftp server concept and understanding.
Public access
Creating Public writable ftp site and manging the permission for it.
Command line client approach and managing upload and download with GUI.
User access

Since the Lab was equipped with UBUNTU, All configuration has been done on UBUNTU linux.

All PC working with only 128 MB Memory.

Again thanx to all those all people contributed to make this event successful.

Congratulation Sir!

I really think such seminars should happen every now and then in colleges so that we can encourage students to use Open Source technology. Perhaps next time when you are invited in some college as a Judge for Project Competition you might see few projects using Open Source Technology.
