Dear Concern,In my office , there are four networks seperate by vlan. after that i configured intervlan then every network can ping each other. I am using fortigate firewall(100D) to use intervlan and DHCP server.But problem:I can ping by ip and hostname on same network but different network i can ping only ip but i cannot ping by hostname.
Could you please help me how can I solve this problem?ThanksIftikhar

May I know which DNS have you configured in the firewall? Have you added your local DNS into firewall DNS list?

Dear Iftikhar,
It seems proper but you may use your local DNS server and check it once. Otherwise when you ping the host name, it seems NETBIOS traffic which coverts in to concerned iP but that is also Layer2 broadcast traffice which any L3 device will drop.
