Mail Server Administrator Interview Question

Hello All,
               Recently I faced a interview for the post of Mail Server Administrator

He asked me some questions

1 what is postfix?
2 How Postfix Works ?
3 if you  have 40000 mail in queue of your mail server how will you troubleshoot step by step ?
4 what is spamassassin ?
5 if your mail server is working properly but  when you are trying to send mail for hotmail it is showing error Relay Access Denied How will you troubleshoot ?
6 you mail server is working properly still your user are not getting mail how will you troubleshoot ?
7 if Reverse DNS entry for your mail server is wrong which error you will get and how it qill effect your mail server ?
8 If you have 2 mail server in a Network abc.com and xyz.com and you want to get mail direct via internet in xyz.com how it will possible ?

Please Give me answer of these questions

3 if you  have 40000 mail in queue of your mail server how will you troubleshoot step by step ?

depends on what mails are there whether important mail or not important, (delete not important mail,and for important email re-queue postfix to send mail again)
 

4 what is spamassassin ?

SpamAssassin is a computer program released under the Apache License 2.0 used for e-mail spam filtering based on content-matching rules. It is now part of the Apache Foundation.

5 if your mail server is working properly but  when you are trying to send mail for hotmail it is showing error Relay Access Denied How will you troubleshoot ?

check for the proper relay or postifx main.cf file for the relay address
 

6 you mail server is working properly still your user are not getting mail how will you troubleshoot ?

check log (eg /var/log/maillog) and try to find the error
 

7 if Reverse DNS entry for your mail server is wrong which error you will get and how it qill effect your mail server ?

 
server refused to talk to me: 550 Reverse DNS lookup failed for host XX.XXX. (port 25)

8 If you have 2 mail server in a Network abc.com and xyz.com and you want to get mail direct via internet in xyz.com how it will possible ?
