Hi,

This is in continuation with Nilesh-bhai, Nirmal-bhais' suggestion on
having a one-day workshop at Vadodara in November/December, perhaps.

I would prefer a Saturday for the workshop, and will require a
projector to give the presentations. I would like the sessions to be
open for all.

I am proposing the following presentations:

* i-want-2-do-project. tell-me-wat-2-do (presentation for newbies to F/OSS)
-- mailing list guidelines
-- communication guidelines
-- project guidelines
* Badam Halwa of Embedded Systems (addresses system basics)
* Packaging Red (hot) Panner, Butter Masala (packaging RPM for Fedora)
* di-git-ally managing love letters (use of Git for SCM)
* Fedora Electronic Lab

If there is anything else that you would like me to address, please do
let me know. I am not sure of college schedules, but, if you would
like the session to be conducted in a college, I am fine with that
too.

Please do let me know your views, so we can take this further.

Regards,

SK

Myself and Deep Patel(Red Hat) will be in Vadodara on 28th November,
2009 and would like to participate in this. However, if it's weekend
I'm OK with any dates.

I think we should create a wiki page on www.vglug.info so that we can
know who are interested in attending this. We can get rough idea about
number and nature of participants willing to attend, which should help
to decide the topics and venue.

I can try for a venue at BCA Deparment, The M.S.University of Baroda.
In my last Fedora 11 Release Party event students were eager to know
about the "i-want-2-do-project. tell-me-wat-2-do (presentation for
newbies to F/OSS)".

Could we finalize the venue and date, so I can then book tickets?

Forgot to add that I don't charge anything for workshops, so if the
Institute could reimburse my travel expenses, it will be helpful.

Hey,

Following this discussion ...

I can surely give my best try in making the BCA venue available if
they dont have anything already scheduled (I am a recent graduate from
BCA).

I would love to help you guys out and make this happen. My peers would
tremenduously benefit from such stuff.

Also, they have to start their final sem projects from Dec end, so
this would be an ideal time to attract more students for an Opensoure
project.
We might need to discuss a little bit more on how we can lure them in.

If things are planned in advanced and details are available it would
help me better to convince Mr. V. A. Kalamkar, our dean.

Also, If they are decided at the earliest, I could spread the word in
the Faculty of Technology & Engineering, where I currently study.
My friends from engineering too will be looking for a project from
this Dec end.

I have already told you about the help I can extend. Some industry
exposure would be great for us students.

My exams conclude on 20th Nov. So please expect that I will get into
action only after that.

Thanks.

Regards,
- Kshitij Shah

Actually, I am waiting for Nirmal-bhais' feedback.

Let us plan in such a way that we don't cram all in one day. Instead,
we will need to have regular, periodic workshops at various
Institutes, so even if people are unable to make it at one event, they
can make it up at another.

Thanks for taking the initiative! Much appreciated.

@Kshitij

I had talk with Mr. Ashish Chaudhary regarding the November-December
dates for organizing this event at BCA Dept, however he mentioned that
there will be exams going on during that time so it would be difficult
organize during this time.

I will be attending the OpenSuSE+Ubuntu Release party next weekend and
will get chance to talk to high authorities of the department. Let's
see how it goes? BTW can you also try for this place or we can
organize this to some another place in Vadodara.

@nirmalbhai

By my knowledge, the exams r gonna b over this week. Bca usually has
their semester exams in dec end. So i guess the time is now...

I m also attending the launch party so i guess we will discuss it
there. And i do not think kalamkar sir shld hv a prob unless there is
anything pre-scheduled on a particular day. If anything like this
doesnt workout, i can certainly try for a venue at faculty of tech n
engg, whr i study at the moment. The other option is The computer
centre at MSU. For now I cant think of other places. But we can
definitely find something out.
