Hi everybody!
Firstly, apologies for the bulk mailing. I’d hate myself for sending this if I didn’t think this was super important. As I've mentioned to many of you, last year I decided to start a charity in the midst of a recession: Chicago Loot Drop. We hold a Rock Band game competition to benefit children's hospitals. The core idea this year remains the same, but with a few notable enhancements over last year. As we did last year, we are inviting gamers in and around Chicago to compete for the chance to take the stage and perform their virtual rock in front of a live audience. All of the proceeds from the event to go support Child's Play, a charity that gives toys, books, and games to sick kids in participating hospitals around the country.
This year's Chicago Loot Drop will be on Sunday, Nov. 20th at 7pm at Reggie's Rock Club. Tickets are $15, which is a 100% tax deductible donation to our cause. "Bands" earn their spot on the stage by collecting the largest volume of donations. To learn more, or to donate, click on over to our new website: chicagolootdrop.org.
This year, we've upped the ante, connecting with University of
Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital. All of the money we raise this
year will help ensure that the kids at Comer have lots of fun games and toys to
play with this holiday season. For the first time since it was founded in 2003,
Child's Play is allying with a hospital in Chicago. We think that's pretty darn
cool.
The second notable enhancement is the addition of a headlining act with live
music, played on real instruments. That should definitely take the rock up a
notch or three. The minibosses will be headlining the night,
rocking covers of all your favorite video game theme songs. They tend to draw a
crowd, so make sure to buy your tickets now!
Even if you can’t make it, you can always help out by donating. Or even simpler, Like us on facebook or
Follow us on twitter. And then spam everyone you
know. :)
Thanks for helping make this happen,
Erik Hanson
