Yesterday's Columbian article stated:
"Bowman believes the board has named a possible location west of
Andreson and south of 78th Street. There has also been talk of
picking a location on 192nd Avenue near Camas."
Though I can see how the reporter mis-heard what I said about Andreson
and 78th Street, what I said was at the meeting the evening before
(Aug. 27th) we were told they were looking at locations west of
Andreson and south of 78th Street and no longer only west of I-5 and
south of 39th Street as we had previously been told. I didn't say at
any time I believed they had picked a location. I did say there were
rumors about a location in east Vancouver and said I would not support
a store there and would, if driving 15 miles, drive to Portland.
I also stated that the reason for the owner-called meeting was for the
board to inform the owners exactly what was going on and to dispel the
rumors and present the business plan so the co-op could go forward.
Since references to west Vancouver have been dropped from the web site
and the owner application, share sales have dropped significantly. I
also said that there needed to be some way of owners knowing who the
owners are and had asked for that for several months because it is
important for promoting the co-op that we know each other and can work
together.
Also, the second sentence quoted above was nothing I said but rather
general information for the article.
Though there was far more I could have said, and said sincerely, I was
extremely careful that everything I said consisted of things openly
said at the owner's meeting by those having the floor to speak at the
time. My personal comment was about where I would shop given I live
in west Vancouver.
It was clear at last evening's meeting that certain board members did
not like any contribution on my part to the article.
I am trusting that perhaps some of Sunrise's quotes were misquoted. I
certainly hope so as some of the information is untrue; some of you
received that email knowing it did not indicate it came from her.
