Bit of interest here:

VFC is so efficient and observant and in tune with its own
surroundings that they still have a two-year-old telephone number on
their checks!

One would think that the person(s) signing the checks would see the
telephone number is not their own. With something as basic as that
overlooked/ignored, it leaves no question why we don't have a store.

Ahh, didn't realize this list was still alive!

Glenna, did you get the most recent newsletter - looks like they may
be moving forward on other things. Funny about the checks.

I noted that this came from "Glenna Rose, Owner #25" -- are you still
an owner?

Seems to be lots going on in the food front these days - how is your
buyer's club going?

The updated "action plan" has some clear dates which I've inserted into the progress graph at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pcu84d3MW6gf6GjcNN9gaMg

The action plan calls for site recommendations by the end of summer and commercial loans by the end of the year, which are far more ambitious than anything I would have suggested with these member numbers.

I predict a board recommendation to disband, to be voted on at the 2012 annual meeting.

One would think the treasurer would look at the checks. Oh, well.

Nope, I requested (and received) my money after it became apparent the
current board wasn't much interested in getting a store opened. At
the the owner-called meeting, I asked the board members to make a trip
to Yelm Food Co-op, find out what they did, etc., as they opened with
fewer members and less money than VFC had at the time. There was
absolutely no action on that. Nor was the old Day N'Night market
followed up on even though I told the board member to whom I gave
information that Alpenrose was receptive to a food co-op. Yelm has a
much smaller market area yet they have done it and done it well, three
years last month and growing. :-)

However, though I am no longer a member, it is clear I also have left
my mark upon the efforts. I just briefly visited the main web page;
they are using, on the website, the video I created. (Good think I
looked; I almost took it off YouTube last month!) They are also having
a picnic this summer, something I suggested and arranged for the first
one which was poorly attended as it was not advertised on the website,
etc. Sad as it was a good opportunity to promote the co-op. Those of
us who attended had a great time.

It is doing well. Thank you for asking.
