Dear VFC Members,
Over the past years I have seen the Vancouver Food Co-op grow from an
idea to a network of almost 200 people, a full board, dedicated
volunteers and committees—however, the time has come to me step down
from board.
This is extremely difficult to write. I have worked many hours on the
co-op and it is not easy to resign, but it is time. I have too many
personal things going on in my life, to give the time and energy
needed and I need to focus on my family right now.
Thank you for hanging in there with me over the years. I could not
have been so inspired if it were not for all your support and
encouragement. Anytime I would feel discouraged, I would table or talk
with someone about the co-op and feel hopeful that we can open a
community based sustainable grocery alternative.
The co-op community has become a part of my family of friends. I have
met some of the most incredible people in the Vancouver area while
being a part of the co-op movement. I want to thank all of you who
have shown your support for a vision and an idea. In my opinion we are
at an important time in the development of the co-op and I hope to
continue to help the effort.
As co-op members we all need to remember the co-op will open only with
all our help and not just a few. Please consider being an integral
role in the co-op—volunteer, tell your friends, family, neighbors and
co-workers about the co-op and ask them to become members. Like you,
I want the co-op to open as soon as possible, I believe this can happen
— we can show the community we are ready for a co-op in Vancouver.
Thank you for working on this exciting project with me.
In cooperation,
Sunrise O’Mahoney
