Hello Everyone,
I couldn’t beleive my eyes seeing an email with VFB.
I too miss the swaps although the Most Memorable Swap may have been a bit too ambitious, I was going through some boxes and found the book and enjoyed flipping through.
At the time of the swaps, I just started a family and now both boys are finishing college and low an behold, I have joined a fly tying group in Concord NH where I get to tie in public once a week in the winter.
I look back on how the group with Line’s Ends help, we used the internet with a purpose.
I would like to extend my thanks for all those that taught me so much.
If there is any interest, I would be willing to host another swap as it has been a long time.
If not, no issues but if I can help facilitate, I am ready.

years later I had to take a break, which sadly never ended. But now I start
to feel that interest waking up again and I'm very eager to start tying
again.
I should have done it before we moved, when my tying stations stood there
waiting. Then I wouldn't have packed the boxes like I did. It would have
been on top and the boxes would have been the first reachable ones. Only
God can tell where the stuff can be found right now. There are boxes all
around the house.
But it won't be long now. I wonder if I remember how to do it. Maybe it'll
be EXACTLY as it was when I came here the first time... when you had to
drag me into my first fly swap. LOL

Attaboy. I will be retiring at the end of this year (i’ve already had my
last working day ;-) ) and will be devoting most of my time to fishing,

Oh, I really hope for fishing again too. But I have no great expectations
there. I will settle with tying for now. Today fishing would be too
hazardous. Maybe if this tying resurrection can make me feel a little
better and make my seizures take a step back to where they were before...
when they mostly came nighttime during sleep and with months inbetween.
Now, when they come way more often, where I stand and all around the clock,
standing by the waterline is Russian roulette for me.
Fishing is thrilling for sure... but for some, the thrill is more than you

I am still here but haven't fished or tied a fly for several years - not because I don’t want to but because I have fairly severe diabetes that makes driving an issue plus I don’t have a fishing partner that lives near me and it is not safe for me to fish alone. I am in the slow process of downsizing my fishing tackle as I just turned 80. Unfortunately two of my previous fishing partners have passed away and others have moved to another Province (state).
I attended the SowBug in March 2011 and met several VFB’ers there including both Tony Spezio, Alan Fish, Rick Zieger and many others.
Rick Still posts his daily sunfish flies and has almost singlehandedly kept the VFB going. Thank you Rick

I haven’t been very active w/ any regard to fly fishing. I’m still a member of FFI & the tying guild, but I haven’t tied in a couple of years & only fished a few times. I don’t remember the last time I was @ Sow Bug, but Tony kept trying to get me to take over his station to tie.
I was talked out of retirement 5 years ago & I was regional director for the Central Region of Ambucs the last two years, which took up a lot of my time, but I’m back to being a “has been” for Ambucs & I’ve been digging out tools & materials for spring.

I am still here but haven't fished or tied a fly for several years - not because I don't want to but because I have fairly severe diabetes that makes driving an issue plus I don't have a fishing partner that lives near me and it is not safe for me to fish alone. I am in the slow process of downsizing my fishing tackle as I just turned 80. Unfortunately two of my previous fishing partners have passed away and others have moved to another Province (state).
I attended the SowBug in March 2011 and met several VFB'ers there including both Tony Spezio, Alan Fish, Rick Zieger and many others.
Rick Still posts his daily sunfish flies and has almost singlehandedly kept the VFB going. Thank you Rick

Hi Chris,
I will be up for a swap again. Not yet though, as all my stuff is still packed down. But my tying break is over, as of this coming year. I haven't tied a fly in 10+ years, but now I can feel the inspiration rise again... and all I need downstairs now is some space to set up my tying room. Teresa just loves this idea. This year will be the year I re-learn how to relax by a desk without keyboards and monitors. 😂
