FYI

Jai Gurudev,

Sharing with you a brief about the first 'I Vote for a Better India' event which happened in Delhi.

'I Vote for a Better India' (iVBI) in partnership with the Delhi Election Commission was launched in New Delhi with super-duper energy packed live musical concert by none other than Mr. Vikram Hazra, on 28th September 2013 at KV2, Delhi Cantt. It was organized and hosted by the YESplus Delhi-NCR team. The event was witnessed by strength of 1000+ college youth from all across Delhi.

iVBI an initiative of ‘Volunteer for a Better India’ aims at increasing awareness and importance of voting in the civil society, especially amongst the youth, and thereby develops a sense of responsibility towards the country. It aims at removing the apathy that has seeped into our social fabric and will help individuals realize the importance of voting in a young country like India where 70% of the population is under the age of 30 years.

The event started off with a rocking patriotic fusion dance performance by Tarique Khan and team, a soul stirring performance of nukkad natak by Tarun Om Kathuria and team, followed by motivational talks by the Addl CEO of Delhi Election Commission-Shri Neeraj Bharati, District Magistrate-New Delhi District - Shri Ameya Abhayankar and Ex Advisor to Chief Election Commissioner of India - Shri K. J. Rao.

The combination of dance, drama and music was found to be an excellent medium to reach to the urban youth who feels disconnected with the current political system. They were charged up to definitely VOTE this time, both in the upcoming Assembly Elections and 2014 National Elections.

Few pictures attached for you.

Regards

Jai Gurudev
